Have Room Only Ressie, When is the latest that I can add DxDDP?

Sorry, I know this has been asked, but I cannot find it.

I have a room only ressie booked for Aug. I am hoping to change it when AP rates for August come out and add DxDDP.

Hubby is doing fine now, but recently had some health issues and we have unexpected health costs (yes that 20% oop adds up quickly when you have unexpected surgery and hospital stay) so I may need to add DxDDP at the very last minute cause I want to pay medical bill first and not dip into savings.

So, how long can I wait to add DxDDP. My arrival date is Aug 1.

Room only can be changed to a package up to 5 days before arrival.
You would have to change to the AP rate package with DDP during the valid dates for the code...but you could then bump up to the DxDDP until the 5 day window.

Let's say AP rates come out May 1. Then I call and change to AP package with DDP and pay for that 45 days out. Then within the 5 day window I could bump up to deluxe if I decide and just pay the difference when I make that call?

That is exactly how the CM I booked with a few weeks ago described it to me.

I was also using a code on a package. She said if my package price was going up I had until 5 days before arrival to make (and pay for) changes. Since it was more park days and DxDDP that I was still thinking about it would raise my price.

Now, If I wanted to remove days it would be by the 45 day mark to not have a $50 re booking fee (that's what she called it.)

I thought that you didn't pay for your dining plan until check in? That is what I had always heard...

The only people who pay for the dinning plan at check in are DVC members staying on points.
