I'm wondering if I have completely lost my mind- we are planning a Disney trip for the end of January/first week of February. Yes, just decided over the weekend. Am I crazy to have such little planning time?? Normally, we plan at least 6-9 months out. DH is currently in training in GA and has a 10 day break at the end of January, so we are planning a 5-6 day trip. Staying at Shades of Green, so no dining plan. We want to do something fun as a family as we are only seeing him once a month (for about 3 days) right now, and once he starts his new course in Feb. we don't know if we will even get the once a month time together. And yes, DS10 will miss a week of school, but his teachers and principal are totally supportive of this since they know daddy is gone.

What's it going to be like during this time? I'm hoping it will be a pretty quiet time, and we should be ok. Or am I totally crazy??

Thanks!

Never gone in February so no insight from me, just wanted to say I think it is an AWESOME idea. What a great memory for your son, as well as for you and your husband. Relax and make some great memories. Spend your weekends planning with your son, he will enjoy that Almost as much as the trip.

LOl... i know how you feel i am trying to do it with 45 days planning.

start getting ADRS NOW. ... almost everything is gone for the week i am oplanning.

2. start planning daily itenirary

We've been twice in that time period, its a great time, crowds are lower and walked on to most rides with little waiting!

Go have a magical time and thank you to your DH and family for keeping us safe!

I booked our trip in May only 23 days out. It was tough getting ADRs but I managed to get them. You have to be persistent because people are cancelling all the time.
Good Luck!
Only 7 more sleeps until we leave for DW....again!

I think it may be best to NOT have the dining plan.

We planned a trip about 75 days out, and our ADRs are definitely not our first choices.

Our best ADR for the week is Biergarten.

You should be fine in not having alot of plaining,You will probably have a hard to eating at resturants that have characters. You are lucky that you were able to get a hotel resvation at Shades of Green 60 days out.I have stayed there 5 times and needed 6 months to call ahead of time to get a resveation.Dont know if its easier now cause they have added alot more rooms.Have fun and enjoy your visit

We planned our first Disney trip in 2wks so I think you are fine. We also did this coming trip in under 60 days. Just book your ADRs now.

How exciting! Go and enjoy yourself. You might have a hard time with ADRs with the free dining but...it can be done. I have been the 1st wk in Feb once and it was slow but really cold! So just pack for cold weather NBD. :)

We rode Soarin 3 times in a row and got to pick our seat each time. 1st row concourse A,B and C.
Have a GREAT time!

We planned less than 3 weeks out in July for an August trip. We did straddle the room discounts with free dining so it wasn't too crowded. As soon as we decided DH got online and just started grabbing ADRs no matter time or place. Then just about every night (maybe more often) he would find a new ADR and we'd make adjustments. We just arranged our days around where we needed to be when.

We chose no character meals since we had just been in Jan (and did two). And we don't really like the hard to get into places anyway. We did Kona for breakfast one day, The Plaza for dinner and Mexico for dinner as well. We also did a lunch at the sitdown (without ADR) at SSR (where we were staying). We did a day at the beach so no ADRs for that day and we had other breakfasts in our villa (and the Waffle House).

We also had a Mama Melrose or SciFi or something at DHS that we cancelled and maybe Biergarten that we cancelled (bad time). So.....

Not all hope is lost. Just enjoy yourselves! And thank God for online ADRs!
