If so what did you think?? We are splitting between SSR (6 nights) and Vero (4 nights) and that is as far as the points go this summer. :scared: HOWEVER....we are going to pay cash and come in 3 days early to Disney. So...we currently have 2 rooms booked at Shades of Green but I am kinda tempted to get 2 at CBR. We stayed there in Dec. 0f 92 for our 2nd trip to Disney and I barely remember staying there. :rotfl: I know that SOG has huge rooms with queen beds (have stayed there 5 times) close to Poly/monorail and we do plan on visting MK on one of these three days. BUT...I am so tempted to try CBR again.

Any thoughts on this??? I know some DVC members do stay elsewhere on cash...so just wanted to throw this out there. We are not interested in staying at a value. Tried that for one night and didn't like it. TIA

FWIW you're not alone in the idea. DS was watching the most recent planning DVD that we have and saw the pirate themed rooms, and put in a request for that. So we're heavily considering adding that to the beginning of our stay...a time to get over jetlag and hang out at a cool looking resort, not visiting parks, to start off our huge, extended, FIRST WDW stay. :)

Stayed there in 97 was ok. We had no issues with staff and enjoyed the pools and restaurant. BUT that was 13 years ago:confused3
When we go early for our trips we usually do POR if its a late flight and we are only sleeping we hit Pop...Have a great time, Shawnpirate:

CBR is just too big if you ask me i was a little dissapointed in it i would stick with shades or go POFR if it were me!

We stayed at CBR in a pirate room for 2 nights this past Thanksgiving and LOVED it!!! So much so that we're going back for 2 nights this coming December.

My son fell in love with the pirate rooms/beds...he actually slept with a smile on his face both nights. And the theme pool and toddler theme pool is one of the best we've seen - the kids must have played there for hours each day.

I know a lot of people say it's too big and the walk is too far to OPR for food, etc, but it never bothered us. Of course, we were only there for 2 days and only one day of parks in those 2 days, so that may be why? But the grounds are beautiful, so we didn't mind the walk.

We also liked their large selection of food options at OPR. Something for everybody...and like triple the choices than somewhere like SSR, Poly, Beach Club, etc.

If you are seriously considering it, try checking out this site where everything is all together about it:

They have pics of the pools, rooms, pirate kids adventure, menus (actual pics, not just the menu printed), store, etc. Great reference site :)

HTH!!!

We stayed at POR for our first ever trip back in 1992. We have never stayed at POFQ but people seem to like it. Have you stayed there? I know it is close to SSR which would be nice for when we move over there for the rest of our trip.

We often book a few nights on cash before checking in to our DVC resort. We use it as a time to visit old fav's or try a new one. We haven't stayed at the CBR since 1995 but I am one that is so tempted. The new pool area looks great. MY dd's who are 3 and 5 just oh and aw over it when they see pics so I plan on staying there on an upcoming trip. Yes, its a huge resort but if your using it as a recover from travel stay (2 nights) who cares. We tend to ahng out at the resort and rest use the pool and chill, then checkin to our DVC resort and egt down to business.

Last September we used our "cash nights" at SOG and in December we tried CBR. CBR use to be my favorite resort, but I'd have to say now I prefer SOG for extending our stays.

I don't know if it's because our children are grown and gone, the rooms at SOG are bigger, or if I like being on the Monorail loop better.

However, CBR could not have treated us any better, and I would use them again depending on the event and SOG availability.

I stayed there for 2 nights two years ago, prior to my stay at BWV. I splurged and booked a preferred room so that I was close to OPR. I was glad I booked that room. Great location; I was literally right around the corner from OPR and the main pool (which was under construction at the time). The room was a standard moderate room, and if you go in with that expectation, you'll really enjoy it. I didn't have any issues at CBR.

Well we are just going to stay put at SOG...when it comes down to how big the rooms are... 480 square feet....you just can't compare it to a mod at all. It is quiet and pretty resort and the price can't be beat. I remember last year when dd wanted to stay at POLY for 2 nights before we headed over to BCV. I kept thinking....oh we should just stay at SOG. Well..I booked Poly with a military 40% discount and after it was all said and done.....dh and I kinda wished we had just went with SOG.

Thanks everyone..........

We stayed there on our first trip to WDW with the kids. It is a very quiet resort in the same aspects that OKW is due to the size. The lake in the early morning before the majority of people are up and going is beautiful. The only drawback that we found was that it is really a large resort and unless you are at the hospitality house area you have a long walk to get to the counter service or sit down resturant. I would not want to spend a week there again but a few days would not be out of the question.
