Incidentally, some things to keep in mind about your network set-up. :
- with a recent attempt at a DIS VMK meeting, room capacity limits made it very difficult to join the gathering, and resulted in some bad feelings
- for example, if there are 2 rooms, but the only way to get to the 2nd is room is via the 1st room and the 1st room is FULL, then nobody else can join...
- if the room is donated by a "real character", then the room owner may not be available, and crowd control will be more difficult
- will you want to make the gathering exclusive? if you want the power of the boot, then the room owner needs to be present, and "trapped" in their room, unable to join the others
I don't have any real suggestions, though. Some thoughts I had ages ago:
- for a small gathering (say 30-40 people), 3 rooms linked as a triangle might work best. Each room would have access to the other 2. Of course, if everyone ends up in 1 room, and it fills to capacity, you are stuck.
- for more than 3 rooms, maybe link them together in a "circle" (so each room links to the room before and the room after it), but ALSO have each room link to a central Hub room. The Hub room has to be made SO ugly and uninviting that nobody could possibly want to hang out there. That way, you could always enter via the hub, and then either get to the "circle" rooms via the "spoke links", or travel around the periphery by the "circle links".
Or you could just wing it
Just some thoughts for you all, as you plan
