Ok guys please don't blast me but we will be taking our 10 month old in 20 days to Disney. She is such a happy baby. I am thinking about taking her on the Haunted Mansion. I am not worried about the ride itself, i am worried about the room before the ride where everyone screams. Do you think a CM will let me go past that with her or has anyone had any experience with this. We are going to wing it with her on rides, start small of course and see how it goes. Once we feel we have reached that tipping point then i will know our limits. This is new for my wife and i and we are trying to go in with an open mind.

Rode with my DD in the Baby Bjorn at 4 months! You will absolutely be allowed. Have a great time and enjoy! The DD in question is almost 6 now and a huge Disney ride fan ... Including the HM!

I don't know why you couldn't but just so you know, it's not typical for everyone to scream. You must have been there with a large group of preteen girls or something. ;)

You didn't ask but I'll forewarn you, I was asked to turn my sleeping dd2 around on Dumbo. Apparently they *have* to be forward facing.

They might let you bypass the room, they miught not. They used to allow it without question because it was the handicapped entrance .But now that the line was made handicap accessible they may not allow it ( I know people that were refused and some have been allowed. It is Cm dependent)

I have never been on HM, either at wdw or dlr, without grown adults screaming. Wish I could ride when you ride bc you have all the luck!

I've never heard of people screaming in the stretching room. We brought DS on HM when he was 5 mos & again at 9 mos and he was fine both times (he slept through it the first time).

I took my 10 month on it, through the stretching room, and he didn't flinch. I think if you're holding the baby and don't seem scared yourself, they tend to take cues from you at that age.

If you're that concerned, you could always ask, but I don't think it'd scar her for life if she had to hear someone scream.

ETA: My son also rode it at 2, 4 and 5 and never freaked out.

For fun? Or did they truly seem scared?

I assume they thought it was fun. For children, however, having adults around them who are apparently terrified makes them extremely nervous. I hate that people do that....

Go for it! We had no problems until they were closer to 2.

Thank you for the replies everyone. We will see how it goes. Hopefully it goes well for all parties involved. I just cant wait until we are there. Its going to be nice to relax and see my 10 month old see a whole different world.

DS has been 8 times (10 by the time he turns 3 on 8/29/13!! Can't wait!!) and he's never been scared on HM even when people scream in the stretching room. I think the baby will be fine.

Just wanted to address the forward facing on rides. I've worn DS on pretty much every ride in an Ergo as an infant (first trip at 12 weeks) and the only times I had an issue was on TSM and POC. On TSM the ride operator wanted me to take him out of the carrier and face him forward and I kept telling her he was an newborn and couldn't face forward. The supervisor came over to tell her since he was in a carrier he was fine. On POC a CM walking by as I was putting DS in the Ergo said he couldn't ride while in the carrier. I would have to take him out to ride but no one in the ride said anything.

Have a great trip!

Old people I know get scared, but some babies sometimes don't even notice if they are too young.

If I remember right there is one prt of the ride that a loud screem is piped in through the car speakers, DD did not like it. I would go on youtube and find a video of the whole ride and watch it, this way you will know if there are any parts that you need to be ready for.

Agree with this. DD did fine with the stretching room and ride when she was 9 mo. old. She didn't know it was supposed to be scary at that point. At 21 mo. old, she was freaked out a bit by the dark. At 2 and 1/2, she was a bit more afraid.

The first time my oldest child rode it, he was 16 months old and slept through it, including the stretch room. I have taken my kids on it at all ages, from toddler on up, and neither one has ever been scared. We told them in advance it was "Mickey magic" and that Mickey was just having fun trying to scare us. My youngest ran off of it at about 2 1/2 saying, "Let's do it again!"
