[The Foolish Mortal]

Rode the HM multiple times last week. October last year was the most recent time I had ridden it and I was pleased to notice a few small tweaks to the HM experience since that time. They have added a little more lighting to the entrance parlor and the stretching room. Especially the stretching room on the left. The body dangling from the ceiling was the most visible (and most gory looking) I have ever seen during almost forty years of riding the attraction. They have also added a brighter flash and strobe effect to the first hall of portraits room.

Lightning flashes at the top of our chamber to reveal:
a BODY swinging from a rope noose in the attic.
Then (in sudden darkness,) we hear the body fall to the floor of our chamber and (falling along with it) an anguised scream.

The point of this section of the attraction is that there IS a (hanged) body, and it is that of the Ghost Host.)

I have honestly never noticed. I've heard the sound effects, but being rather short, I think I'm usually staring at the back of whomever is in front of me. I'll try harder next month!

DS and I just returned yesterday from a week at WDW. We rode HM 4 times. The dangling body is definitely more visible in that left room. I noticed right away and my son agreed that it has never been more clear.

Right there with you. Maybe I focus more on the stretching paintings but I’ve never seen a body.

The meaning wasn't hard to grasp, even without seeing a body

The graveyard scene too was brightened up. I saw a lot of ghouls Ive never noticed before. That or it was always too dark to see them.

I think what you are noticing is the flashing for the on-ride photos they now take.

We never noticed it either until we took the Marceline to Magic tour and it was pointed out to us.

Question about this... for a short time frame (like 5 years ago), when I rode HM the hitchhikers were personalized based on your Magic Band (for example, I am from Maryland, and my ghost said something about Maryland. I forget exactly. There were some others too. Something with my name on it as I recall.

That was (relatively quickly) removed. I have not noticed it since.

Does anyone know why it was removed and if it's ever coming back? Was it too creepy / invasive for people?

Well, you do have to look up, as in directly overhead so you have to lean your head way back, to see it. Most don't.

This feature on all the different rides that has it seems to come and go. I don't know about the HM one for certain but did see our names at SW, ST and EE during our trip at Christmas.

I think what you are noticing is the flashing for the on-ride photos they now take.

Its both. I assumed the strobe is the flash for a photo, but even the portraits that don't have a strobe are a bit brighter
