Haunted mansion. People do this?!

Yes, I wouldn't either IF they asked & were put in a place where my children & friends & dogs didn't play! That's why I say-I, too would love to have my resting place there but just not randomly scattered...a proper place-YES!!! I just don't think people should think they have a right to do this-especially if it's against the law in Florida.

I think it would be a hoot and an honor to be arrested for scattering a bit of my mom down there.:wizard::littleangel:

Oh, I'm not voicing my opinion on whether or not it's "ok" to do this at WDW...I'm gunna keep that to myself ;) Just saying it wouldn't bother me if someone came and dumped ashes in my yard...and honestly...they could do it under my kid's swing and I probably wouldn't even notice...:flower3:

Funny thing is though...I was googling stuff to make sure that you couldn't catch diseases from human ashes, and I found a site where this company will make DIAMONDS out of your loved one's ashes. Now, walking around with my gma on my ring finger might creep me out...lol!

Lol I could just picture that.Giving your daughter a ring and saying "Don't do anything bad grandma is watching":rotfl:

Actually, I think that's VERY interesting!!! What is the website??? I don't have any family members that have been cremated, but just learning about stuff like that is neat! I don't think wearing your loved one on a ring, pendant would be any creepier than having them on a shelf...

Disney has been missing a HUGE opportunity for profit, by not building a Disney Cemetery. :)

I like this idea, it certainly has potential. I would do this for sure. I am in fact one of those people who pour the ashes out. It is requested of me to do that for my parents and I will definitely be doing this. I hope that my kids would do it for me as well. I do like the idea of a Disney cemetery I would pay to have my parents in it and me as well. :cool2:

I would have absolutely no problem with a former homeowner's family coming and leaving their ashes on my property. It's the circle of life!
I also would have no problem with someone spreading their ashes on my property.

Now I prob would have a problem if someone showed up with a backhoe and dropped a vault and lowered a casket in my backyard.

Some ashes sprinked around, I seriously doubt if I would even notice. Even if the kids got a little of grandma on their feet, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust

It seems very natural to me!

If you were to die of AIDS, SARS, Hepatitis or any other tranferable disease and were cremated the heat of the fire would kill the virus COMPLETLY. Also viruses can only live outside a living host for so long. And if you were scattered in my front yard the wind would carry you away. So I guess to answer your question, It would not bother me.

The reason people are not allowed to dump their remains in a pile at Yankee stadium is simple. Living people do not want to look at a growing pile of ashes. Have you seen the quantity of ashes a full grown person leaves behind? It's a lot. More people should do what my father had done with his. The majority of him went into the lake behind his house and my brother and I received a small amount. He is in an urn in my living room until I find a place to put him. Because really, after I pass who am I going to leave him too? The thought of passing down Grandpa Finley from generation to generation grosses me out more than spreading him somewhere.

It's that it's an eyesore and not that it's just ... grotesque to think of human remains in a pile that keeps the Yankees from allowing this? It's not that a LOT of people -- I included -- consider this a health issue that keeps the Yankees from capitalizing on this possible cash bonanza? It's the asthetics of it all? Very well then.

This is apparently an argument I will not win, so it is one I will no longer pursue. Your opinions are your own and that is your right.

But I ask you to consider the feelings of others before you share your burned up human remains with the world. I, for one, am not interested in helping you share whatever it is you have to offer in your altered state of non-existence, any more than I want my dog's charred remains in an urn on my dinner table.

I wish you well and hope you can respect the feelings of others in this matter.

Yeah...no WAY! My gma already tells me I'm going to HeIl...I can already hear her little voice coming from my ring finger...make it stop! make it stop! :headache:

Human Remains in Ash form are NOT a Health Issue. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. And if you disagree...show me a reputable source of information that says it is, and I will evaluate it.

2. But I rate it slightly below the feak mother who stopped, dropped and gave birth walking through Cinderella's Castle. And refused to leave till she was done.

:scared1: OMG someone did NOT do that! NO WAY!

that's what I remember reading.
I think I even read about it on the dis like a year or two ago.
can you imagine the mess? or walking by with your kids and seeing that happen?
She apparently planned it. Wanted to say her child was born in Cinderella's Castle.
Now that's taking being a disney fan too far.

You really think human ashes are a health hazard and you can get diseases from them? Wow, just wow. I have heard some crazy things in my life, but yeah...

As for having a huge pile of ashes in the middle of a stadium/attraction I agree it might look weird. But, honestly I don't care where people spread the ashes as long as it does ruin any machinery in WDW or add dust to where their shouldn't normally be any.

I can't believe they didn't lift her butt up and haul her out on a stretcher!!!

Seriously...I'm RARELY speechless...but this...yeah...I don't even know where to start...but I will say, I can't imagine walking around the MK for the 36 hrs I was in labor with my DD waiting for the right moment to park my behind "in" the castle to deliver her...(guess I wasn't TOTALLY speechless after all...LOL!)

I do not believe there to be a health risk however do you all have any idea what it would do to my DD7 if she found out about all this? And yes, she would notice someone dumping or dusting ashes on a ride, she would ask, she would eventually find out even if I evaded from telling her. She is just that kind of kid. It would completely ruin the trip for her..........SERIOUSLY. DS8 might put on a brave show in front of sis but he would probably have nightmares while at the world. And I know that my children are not the only ones who would have problems, not by a long shot.

So folks, if you are bound and determined.......Be very, very sensitive to others. You just may unwittingly forever ruin WDW for a child.:guilty:

How on earth would a 7 year old find out such a thing, unless you chose to tell her? Mine might notice someone throwing something out, but, really it is Disney. The thought would last 2 seconds, because Captain Jack is in the next scene, or whatever the ride entails. I don't know why anyone would be paying that much attention to the actions of others.

Because my daughter notices everything, because she would loudly ask everyone, because she would make comments about it until someone would say something, because she would report to a cm, because people are not always very sly, because people do not always watch their tongues, because she is very smart!

You could always figure out a way to tell her and not ruin the magic of Disney...or you could make up something.

For me, it would be World Showcase Lagoon-hands down!!:)

...or maybe I could be part of the sand at SAB....KIDDING!!!!!!

Maybe they could use those empty Leave a Legacy stones by SSE and transform them into a columbarium. I think it's the least they can do for those of us that never got a chance to put something there before it closed. It still makes me angry walking by the empty stones and knowing I can't add my message.

Maybe the Disney Burial Club (DBC)?

I'm still laughing about the Disney Burial Club idea (DBC).....too funny!

I wonder what my dues would be and if I get that spot until 2042 - would they then they move my ash right out of there unless I got the extended contract?.... lol..

Incentive programs? Anyone? lol... Obviously there's a park discount but no dining packages needed....

I'd like to say that she would be okay with it but she is freaked out about death/dying right now (it's a phase...), starts crying when she realizes she will outlive her hamster or the thought mommy won't be around forever, cries over her deceased pet bunny who is buried in the backyard. She hasn't even walked in that area (small yard) in 3 months. As to lying.......she'll see through it. She is perceptive & even caught her teacher in a white lie. Teacher had to call me to explain. :rolleyes1

Maybe that would be the time to explain to her that talking loudly, talking about the actions of others, and asking strangers rudes questions is rude. And if it is you she is asking, she might need to learn that some things are really just none of her business.
