Is Haunted Mansion worth a FP? And if you book one, you miss things in the queue?

I know DS will want to ride Splash Mountain....DD and I love HM from our last trip (never Fast Passed it) so looking at what we can book while DS and DH go on Splash.

Other option is Big Thunder as I know it's also near by, but I'm not decided yet if I"ll ride that one for health issues (can't do big drops, things that will bump my head or change in gravitational force because of eye issues).

1. Is Haunted Mansion worth a FP?
2. And if you book one, you miss things in the queue?
1. Only you can answer that. I consider HM one ot THE signature Disney attractions.
It can be seen with or without a FP, with the overall crowd-level being the determining factor as to how long the line will be.
2. Yes, you will miss the interactive sections of the outside queue.
Are they "important?" Not so much to me.

Is Haunted Mansion worth a FP?
No. It is very easy to pick up a FP day of after you've used your first three or ride standby if you go at a not-too-busy time of day.

And if you book one, you miss things in the queue?
The non-FP queue has gravestones with funny names and a couple of interactive fun things. But the main queue element of the stretching room is available whether you are in standby or FP.

It’s certainly a good pick for being near splash mountain and not a thrill ride. Normally I wouldn’t prebook it but I guess the real question is what would you book instead? I certainly wouldn’t recommend Big Thunder if you can’t bump your head.

Every time I’ve been to Disney I’ve noticed that Haunted Mansion wait times will swing wildly thru the day. It’ll be ten minutes one minuet and forty five the next. If your willing to keep an eye on wait times I’m sure you can get on just fine without a fast pass but personally I get one because this is a must do ride for me then I manage a few extra rides watching the wait times. 😁

Thanks. That helps. So would miss stuff on headstones with a FP.

Yes ...think you are right about Bug Thunder. I remember swoops and turns (at least at Disneyland) which is ok but it can be bumpy .
Not sure if anything else is close by as it's just one tide we are splitting up. And it certainly won't be the only time going on HM so probably makes sense.

Pirates is near Splash if you want another option. HM seems fairly easy to FP later in the day as long as you don’t wait TOO long.

No. We always just do standby line, never more than say 15 min. And FP is always available same day for HM.

Thanks. We will have 1.5 days at MK so I gave Pirates as one of the 6 Fastpaas....but will ch CK with DD and see what she prefers.

We have done it both ways. I do miss the interactive queues with fp, but some times the sb is way too busy to wait in. I mean long lines past the entrance to the showboat. I guess it depends on the crowds, but I always get a fp anyway just in case, and we do use it every time.

Most of the original type tombstones are on the left after the merge point, so you would see those with a FP or without. There are a few new ones in the standby queue, but they don’t interest me as much as the original ones. They don’t seem as witty to me.

The FP line skips the tomb with interactive elements and the busts of the murder mystery. The Leota grave stone that periodically looks around is just outside the doors after the FP and standby lines merge together.
We've always had a FP for HM because it's a high priority ride for us.

If you ask me (people rarely do) - standby queue elements are NEVER worth waiting that much longer. Sure, there is a bit of pixie dust and some Disney magic design elements - but it really isn't worth it when you could be hitting another attraction, show, the bathroom, or sitting for a snack or meal. There are several 'outstanding' (as rated by others) queues I have never seen - and I am not remiss.

One of my 1st 3? No. As a later FP? Absolutely.
When we travel, we can usually pick up a later FP without much trouble. Later in the day, the line is often under 20 minutes, s omay not be worth the FP.
At busier times, it may.

I always make a fastpass for Haunted Mansion in advance because it's one of my favorite rides.

... it's one of my favorite rides.
Same for DD and I. When we returned from Disney World last time (2014), all DD kept asking was "when can go on Monsters again?" (that's what she called Haunted Mansion)
And unfortunately HM was closed when we went to Disneyland in 2017 so we're both super excited to see it again

I’ve seen it be pretty busy with waits over an hour long. And as far as same day Fastpasses, it’s probably the first of the non thrill rides to run out. So keep that in mind. By mid afternoon, they can be gone.
