I’ve seen it be pretty busy with waits over an hour long. And as far as same day Fastpasses, it’s probably the first of the non thrill rides to run out. So keep that in mind. By mid afternoon, they can be gone.

Thanks. I'm convinced now to book HM FP for DD and I. And DS mentioned that he will want to ride it too so can see the queue on that ride.

1. Only you can answer that. I consider HM one ot THE signature Disney attractions.
It can be seen with or without a FP, with the overall crowd-level being the determining factor as to how long the line will be.
2. Yes, you will miss the interactive sections of the outside queue.
Are they "important?" Not so much to me.
