Hello Everyone. I am starting to get to the nit-pick aspects of my upcoming trip and am needing some help.

Since the mansion will have the overlay, there will be fastpasses available right?

When the fastpasses are available, are they connected to the fastpass system or are they disconnected like Roger Rabbit?:confused3

I am almost positive Haunted Mansion Holiday had FP last year. But I have no idea if it was connected or not.

Since I'm new to DL - what does "connected" mean? I read about it briefly somewhere else...does it mean you can get another FP for something different?

HMH does offer FP, and as of last year, it IS connected to the FP system.

There are two FP networks. One for DCA and one for DL which means you can hold fastpasses for DL and DCA at the same time. There are two rides that are not networked into the FP system (Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin and Grizzley River Rapids). This means that you can pick up a FP for GRR, and then walk right across to Soarin (or any other FP ride in DCA for that matter) and grab another FP.

Hope that made sense.

Thanks Dangermouse. That is exactly the information I was looking for.:thumbsup2

And I can also verify that it was connected last year. I tried to get one while already holding one. I got the normal NOT A VALID FP TICKET thing. :o

You guys are super helpful over here - THANK YOU!! The explanation and link were very informative.

I think this is pretty cool that DCA and DL are close and you can get a FP at each place. It could be tricky though b/c it could be difficult to get back to the park in the timeframe for the FP, right? I mean, it's an hour window of time...that could be a great deal of running back and forth...

You can use the fastpass after the time window is up.............the only limit is waiting to get the next FP. So if your late it is still good....thats one of the best things I learned from the DIS!

Oh my! You obviously haven't heard the very BEST FP tip. You can use them after they expire! So, if your FP return time is between 10:40 and 11:40 am, you can use them anytime after 10:40 am, up until park closing! It's true!

So collecting multiple FP's early at either park is extremely beneficial! Keep reading Hydro's tips! :thumbsup2

Check Hydroguy's tips for the fastpass. Never had to get one for this ride. The most we have ever waited was 10 minutes.

WOW! My DH gave me the overview of the tips (I say the attractions that look interesting and he plans our day). At WDW, we got turned away a few times if we weren't within the timeframe (granted it was peak season). This is a great thing to learn! Oh, I'm so much more relaxed about not being too rushed when we go for only 2 days. :cool1:

Thank God for the DIS and all you helpful people!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Yep! We have never had a problem using them all the way till park closing. We actually ride lines all morning while lines are super short picking up fastpasses along the way. Then we take our break/lunch, then use fastpasses the rest of the night! It works great!

I also rarely find it worth using fastpass. The only time we ever used it is one Saturday when it was done up with the NBC theme at X-mas and we knew the park would be packed that night. Picked up a fastpass before it got nuts and used it that night. Standby looked to be at least 45 min but we walked right into the stretch room with the FPs.

If you get turned away by the CM at the entrance, politely ask them to check with a supervisor. It is Disney's policy to allow you to enter a ride at any time after the beginning of your FP window. DH and I NEVER ride during our FP window and we've never had a problem.

Cardaway, because of the differences of WDW FP to DLR FP, effecient use FP can save a savvy Diser HOURS of time in DLR. Read HydroGuy's thread above. The way he used FP during a typical crowded day was eye opening. After employing his "rules", I became a HG Rules groupie. :rotfl:

For me it was amazing that FPs could be used in such a way. Every crowded evening of our stay we would have 3-5 FPs in our pocket.

Differences:

- You can use the FP past the FP return time. THINK ABOUT THIS.
- You can pick up DCA AND DLR FPs within minutes (of each other) & it's easy to do.
- DLR is (typically) relatively uncrowded in the AM (good for FP collecting EARLY & OFTEN) & relatively crowded in the evening (good for FP using).
- The "un-connected" rides. (We rode Griz twice a day every day with no wait.)

When we took our SoCal residing sister in law who had been to DL "dozens" of times (& had used FPs a "couple of times"). She was amazed on her one night (with us) that:

- on BTMRR we had a 5 min. wait vrs. 45 min. standby.
- on SM we had a 10 min. wait vrs. a 75 min. standby.
- on RR we had a 5 min. vrs. 35 min.
- on Splash 10 min. vrs. 75 min.
- & Indy we had 10 min. vrs. 60 min.

She (& the rest of my family) looked at me like i was a genius. (& the poor people in the standby line all gave us dirty looks as we strolled on by. ;))

More importantly because we didn't spend hours in line, we had time to smell the roses & enjoy DL at night. (along with riding the above 5 rides). Character interaction, churro & dole whip consumption, unsuccessfully trying to pull the sword out of the stone. Pics, pics & more pics.

Read HydroGuy's tip threads (several times) & use FP at DLR. :thumbsup2

hound - :hippie:

I have read those threads? I also didn't find aythign I didn't already know. :confused3

My point was only about HM, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks it wasn't one of the rides that should have had FP installed.
