Uh oh, this could turn into another "I hate widescreen DVDs" "debate".
I don't understand why anyone (except BBB who gets headaches)would purposely by a movie in FS knowing that for the same money they could get the entire movie and not (upwards of) 30 percent less.

I get full screen DVD's when possible because I don't have a 50 inch TV to watch it on, and frankly, the old eyes aren't what they used to be. I usually watch DVD's on my 22" computer monitor because I have a dolby digital setup in my office. So getting widescreen makes no sense if I can't see it well. Maybe I will change my mind if I ever get a TV that plays a full 16:9 format, but for now I'll stick with fullscreen.
I saw both yesterday at Sam's Club...you just need to keep looking. Personally, I get the widescreen version when available since I have a 16:9 TV. That DOESN'T mean I automatically get rid of the letterbox lines though. Depending on the format the film was shot in I'll have them or not, so that still bugs me a little bit.
I thought they quit making fullscreen versions on newer discs as there was so little demand for them, widescreen being the viewing choice if given a choice. Shows what I know, LOL.
