Haunted Houses, Scare Zones, a Candy Factory, Monsters, Goblins, Candy Apples and more. Is there a Quiet Place? My HHN 33 trip.

This was the beautiful Scare Zone in 2018 called Twisted Tradition that had the Pumpkins up in the Trees. It was stunning.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH CONTINUED

Our next house was Ghostbusters Frozen Empire. A little backstory to start.

Over 4 thousand years ago, Samudari was a bad bloodthirsty King who wanted to conquer all of Asia. Garaka served the King and they conquered half of Asia together.

The king became suspicious of Garaka’s motives and had Garaka captured and disfigured and the Horns on his head ripped off. The horns on Garakas head were the source of his power.

Garaka then wagged war on the humans and planned to raise an undead army and bring about the Second Ice Age. He channeled humans fear into a weapon that was known as the “Death Chill”.

Mythical Spirit Catchers known as the “Fire Masters” shattered the Death Chill and used Fire and Brass to trap Garraka in a Orb.

The thing that makes Garaka so dangerous to the Ghostbusters is the fact that Garaka can control Ghosts.

Fast forward.

The Orb containing Garaka on Ray’s desk.

The grandson of an old woman brought the Orb into Ray’s shop looking to sell some of his grandmothers possessions that were in her apartment after she passed away. Unbeknownst to him his grandmother had been a Fire Master and he had found a secret room of brass in her apartment that contained The Orb, Garaka’s Horns and the Fire Masters costume. The grandson Nadeem did not know anything about the Orb.

When Ray checked the Orb with his Psycho-Kinetic Energy Meter it was off the charts so Ray bought it.

These scenes in the Ghostbuster: Frozen Empire House our from 1904 when the Manhattan Adventurers Society held a gathering at their headquarters.

They took the Orb and played a recording of the chant that opened the Orb. The Death Chill froze the room and everyone in it.

A female Fire Master resealed Garaka in the Orb before he could escape.

Hook and Ladder Company 8 who were called to the Adventurers Club noticed the Fire Master and her eyes opened and startled them as the Orb closed up.

All the frozen men exploded into ice crystals.

I’m a scaredy cat but Ghostbusters was one of the few houses I experienced. I love the original movie but DD and I watched the newest one before our trip. The scenes in the house were amazingly similar to the movie. Especially the ‘frozen room’… looked just like the movie’s opening scene. The SA’s who portrayed main characters looked very similar to the movie actors. It was amazing!

I appreciate your very detailed pictures since I missed some of the fine details… lol perhaps because I was squinting occasionally due to being chicken. I really should try a tour sometime. Between the meticulous detail, art and creativity that goes into these houses (along with the backstory), I’m sure it’s well worth it!

wdwrule you are right they did a great job of recreating the scenes from the movie. I watched the Frozen Empire and it was fun to see the old guys back in action again.

I just wish the movie had been a tad longer so they could have really developed some of the new characters a little better. Like Dr. Egon Spengler’s daughter Callie and granddaughter Phoebe.

You would really enjoy an Unmasking the Horror Tour. It was Mac who got me interested in doing them a few years ago. The Tour is such a nice way to add some extra essence to the houses for sure.
I always look forward to your reports Robbie
Thank you Mac.

I agree with you… would’ve been nice for the movie to be longer and go more in depth. Thanks for the tips!

Fast forward and the present Ghostbusters Callie Spengler the daughter of a original Ghostbuster Dr. Egon Spengler and her son Trevor, daughter Phoebe and Callies boyfriend Gary are living in the Hook and Ladder Company 8 Firehouse.

They are friends and mentees of the original Ghostbusters.

Phoebe is befriended by a girl ghost named Melody. Melody encourages Phoebe to go to the Paranormal Rescenter and use the Ionic Separator to Ghost Walk. Unbeknownst to Phoebe Garaka who can control ghosts put Melody up to it so he could use Phoebe to chant the Special incantation that would release Garaka.

Prior to Garaka being released by Phoebe one of the original Ghostbusters Dr. Peter Venkmann came in and tested Nadeem at the Paranormal Center. He realized Nadeem was a Fire Master who just needed to hone his skills to help keep Garaka contained.

After his release Garaka starts his freeze on New York. He kills who he thought was the new Fire Master and he heads to the Fire House to release all the Ghosts that have been contained over the years from the containment chamber at the Fire House.

The old containment chamber in the basement of the Fire House. Garaka released all the Ghost held in this chamber, but it them became his home.
IMG_1914.jpeg

The regular proton guns cannot harm Garaka. He just freezes the rays from the guns.
IMG_1915.jpeg

Phoebe figures this out and adds brass to her proton gun and is able to help subdue Garaka while Melody assists Nadeem with fire to contain Garaka in the old now empty Ghost containment chamber in the Fire House.

Interestingly if Melody the ghost who had deceived Phoebe into ghost walking to help Garaka escape had not struck her last match in her book and gave it to Nadeem things would have turned out differently.

This house was interesting to go through in the daylight.

I did watch the movie on this house. It was fun to see the old Ghostbusters guys minus Spengler teaming up with the new Ghostbusters to save everyone from Garaka.

Next up the last house Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH CONTINUED

The last house to the Unmasking the Horror Tour was Monstruos: Monsters of Latin America

I had been wondering how this house would translate as I had remembered Fiestade Chupacabras house from HHN 31 in 2022. That house was set in a Latin Village where the legend of the Chupacabras was celebrated with a festival.

Chupacabra was a large vampire dog beast that was killing the tourist that had come to the village for the festival. This house incorporated a lot of very decorative masks.

A little backstory on the Monstruos House the story is starts with 3 friends talking about the legends of 3 Latin Monsters. Carlos is telling his friends Luz and Carmen about them while they are in woods.

El Silbon is a creature of death that you can hear approaching you as he whistles. Those that hear the whistle are marked for death.

Tlahuelpuchi the fanged monster with sharpened claws.

La Lechuza an Owl like creature with a bloody beak covered in crimson feathers.

IMG_1917.jpeg

I know a lot of folks did not like the areas of the house that showed Tlhuehuelpuchi favorite target which were babies and children.

As Carlos was telling his friends about the scary Monstous his friends Carmen and Luz believed the tales. Not only had their Abuelas told them about he monsters, but an old lady in the village who wore tattered clothes told them the tales too.

They decided to play hide and seek in the woods and Luz and Carmen took off to hide. They both met their end when they were killed by Tlahuelpuchi and La Lechuza.

Carlos who was an unbeliever of the tales even though he liked to scare his friends with them found his friends had been killed by the beasts.

He ran for his life. He ran into the cemetery and noticed there was a newly dug grave. He heard the slow whistling sound and then he saw the old tattered lady from the village sitting on a tombstone. She turned into El Silbon and pushed Carlos in the grave and he tried to get out, but he could not and she buried him alive.

After the Tour was done we went back to the old Blue Man Group Theatre were we started and I tipped Jack our tour guide and I was ready to get back to the resort.

It had been a wonderful tour. I had great time hearing about all the houses and getting to appreciate the back story.

The Unmasking the Horror Tour is the best way to appreciate the artistry in the houses presented on the tour. It brings the houses alive and it gives them more meaning when you see them in the dark.

That being said. There is a lot of walking especially on the 6 house tour.

I have issues with my back and legs and what gets me is the standing in one place in the houses as you go from room to room as the guide gives you all the details.

I know it is not just me as the younger ones on the tour are showing wear and tear as the day progresses.

I was glad that there was a boat waiting when I got back to the dock.

I was happy to get back to the room and enjoy a long shower. It was 4:15pm and I was ready for a quick nap to rejuvenate. After the long day.

After a nap it was time already 6 pm and I really did not want to go anywhere for dinner so we went down to the Club lounge and had a meal.

While we were eating our meal it started pouring rain out and we could see the people returning to the resort absolutely drenched from the windows in the lounge.

While we were there Andrew one of the club staff told us they were having bingo in the lounge later and we should come and play.

We did go back to the Club lounge later and had a great time playing bingo. There was a nice group of folks that showed up to play and it was fun.

My sister K won a gift certificate for a large pizza from Sal’s.

While we were in the lounge playing Bingo the evening desserts were brought out for everyone to enjoy.

We had a nice time and I was so glad we had decided to play.

I was too tired to make it to HHN this evening so this was a nice way to spend the evening.

When we were done with bingo and dessert we headed back to the room to call our hubby’s and tell them about our day.

We watched a little TV and then I got ready for bed and I was out when my head hit the pillow.
