Hate kids but love Disney

oh so go over there, we dont want you here because you are different to us
I believe what was said was "go over there if you are looking for likeminded people." And also the objection is not a different opinion, but a rude and hateful one. There is a difference.

That poster suggested that OP's intention is too look for like-minded people, not to bash children.
I am saying if that was the OP's intent, she would have more luck on the adult/solo forum. She might also have more luck if she just asked about adult activities or avoiding children on DCL.

I was wondering if anyone felt the same way so I won’t feel like a complete outsider.

the OP literally said "i was wondering if anyone felt the same way so I won't feel like a complete outsider.
So maybe directing her to a place where other people feel the same way is not bad?

Because a lot of people who are commenting do not feel the same way.

And they are responding to her question - which was, again, "I was wondering if anyone felt the same way"....

@smiths02 , see what I mean? By not allowing someone the benefit of the doubt you are allowing the “hate” to breed.

Guys, please, let’s stop this!
The boards are full of people encouraging others to go solo or go without kids and enjoy themselves. I've been without kids to WDW twice. DLR at least a few times (I mostly went when I was a child).

I really do not care if OP goes to WDW or on DCL or has children or not. I have no hatred for her. I don't have to be tolerant of rude comments and hate being espoused on the board.

Again the question in the OP was does any else feel the same way.

And the answer is is yes other people feel the same way.

However I'm sure alot more reading and not responding also feel the same way but due to the strong words of those who do not like the opinions and views expressed in the OP, they are too intimidated and fear retribution if they respond.

Me, I've got a thick skin, and I am well used to debating in an online community, so I am not intimidated by those who do not like my posts.

For someone who has thick skin, you are coming off a bit touchy.

If you hate kids and still go on a Disney Cruise don’t expect people to be sympathetic when you are annoyed by normal kid behaviour.

It's fine to be irritated by people behaving badly but if you hate kids so much that normal kid behavior bothers you stay off DCL so you don't potentially some other family's vacation with your poor attitude/behaviour.

I just find it interesting that so many people just cant let go of the fact that a female does not want kids, does not like kids but is a Disney fan and enjoys Disney products, services and experiences, up to 5 pages now, and the Disney families just have a bee in their bonnet about this

as far as i'm concerned I could care less if people want or don't want kids. I don't think anyone is saying you have to have children.
I don't understand HATING a group of people. and children are a group of people.

Hate. Hating them. All of them. Blanket statement. I dont understand that. Explain that to me please.

I find it interesting that you leap from what is actually being said to suggesting people want someone to have a kid.

I actually have no problem with any of that. However the OP didn't say didn't like or didn't want. She said hate. Hate is a very strong word and to me anyway suggests and intolerance of children which should not be brought into a place where there will naturally be a lot of kids. If you hate kids so much that even being around them bothers you then a Disney vacation is perhaps not the best choice since it is unfair to the families who bring their kids on DCL because it is the most family friendly cruise option to have someone scowling at their kids for existing.

"So if you see two grumpy young adults cringing at the screams of children on the ship, that will be us " The OP admitted to be outwardly hostile to children in her vicinity at Disney. There are kids at Disney and on DCL. If you can't leave that attitude at home, pick a different vacation.

You keep changing what OP said. She said she "hated" kids. You keep changing it to "does not like." There is a difference. That is what most people are reacting to.

so what if the OP used the word hate?? Its a word of expressing an emotion, and some people in this thread are reading way way too much into the use of that word.

I hate dealing with the trick or treating kids

I hated when I was a server and kids would run around the restaurant

This is an internet message board. All we have to judge intent are the words you choose to post. Word choice is key to discourse, as interpretive dance does not work in this venue.

In your examples, you are hating a behavior, not a group of people.

again, people are reading way way to much into the word hate.

so ok, I hate kids but love Disney

I think hate=dislike in this case. I assume the OP does not mean "hate" as in a deep rooted emotion that leans toward extreme hostility/violence towards a person, group or thing.

I'm not defending the original choice of words, as I agree, perhaps the original post was not worded in the most politically correct way. It's hard to understand tone, sarcasm, and humor on a message board. Like as it is in texting. Just putting my 2 cents in.

OP: you would be welcome on the Adults & Solo Travelers Board and I imagine you'll find some people who share your love of Disney, but aversion to children. It's not a wrong opinion to have, you'll just always be in the minority here.
