has this ever happened to anyone?PIN?

Hi,
I'm new to the boards. My family of 5 (1 kid was under 3yrs) stayed 2 nts at POFQ a few weeks ago. My Dh's family is now planning to book a 1 week WDW trip as a 50th anniversary celebration for dh's parents. I called a WDW CM and asked for a quote for the 5 in my family for POR (room only). I asked if there was any PIN associated with my name/address and there was not one. she said it's pretty early now and you never know if a PIN may come up but suggested I book ASAP (maybe with CAA number for a discount)- then if I get a PIN code I could use it and apply it to my reservation.... ( not 100% if that was exactly what she said- but that was how i interpreted it)

So.... here's my question (2 actually, LOL)

Has anyone here ever booked a room only and then later received a PIN for a discount??

Why would disney give you a PIN code if you already have a reservation seeing as the PIN code would be to entice you to come back (ie. you've already booked so why would they need to convince you any further???)?

I am learning lots from the DIS boards but still remain pretty confused about a lot of things!!!

Question 1) Yes.. it happens all the time. I am not sure that I'd count on it.. but it does happen. What are you travel dates? If it's a normally low-traffic period... you could wait it out without booking right now and probably still get your preferred resort later on.

Question 2) Good question. My theory is that marketing and reservations aren't in total sync with each other. It's a big company. Remember, if all else fails.. a general public code might be available for you to use also.

wow, thanx for the quick reply! true, i guess it's a huge company...'the left hand might not always be in sinc with what the right hand is doing', so to speak.....

We're going for Dec. 1-8/07, value season.

I'm not going to book right away, i think i'll just sit tight for a bit.... not sure.... i love to plan stuff way in advance...
