Has Fantasmic gotten shorter?

We saw it last 2 weeks ago and I swear a lot had been cut out of it. We had friends for with us for the first time and their son said but how did Mickey win? and that got me thinking. Didn't he use to battle with the Snow witch?

Did it have the big dragon in it? When we saw it, they pulled the fire breathing dragon and just had Malificient on a rock pointing downward as the fire started. It was pretty lame in comparison. I wasn't happy. I had hoped it was a temporary thing and not a permanent change.

Sometimes due to weather or mechanical problems parts of the show are left out. A lot of times the dragon doesn't come out, or if it's raining or windy they cut pyro.

When I last saw this (a month ago or so) it had the Malificent Dragon. No Snow White witch or anything like that.

We saw it last month too and it was the witch only and it wasn't the weather! We haven't seen the dragon come out since 2000!

I've seen it twice at MGM and both times the dragon was there. I hear it is extremely tempermental though, so if there is even a slight chance of it not working they will leave it out of the show.

The dragon was in the 8:30 show this past Saturday. I don't recall if the dragon was in the show when we saw it back in 2001.

yeah, that happend to me. My friend that works in the show said it has a lot of problems.

Kinda bummed me out b/c i was looking forward to seeing it.

We have seen Fantasmic many times, and only once was the dragon missing. We last saw it in January, and it seemed normal to me.

Hi All!!!

I've been lurking on the boards for months & decided to finally add my "2 cents". During our 3rd trip to the World in November, we finally got to see Fantasmic. Frankly (don't shoot me please) we were all very disappointed. It was much shorter than many vets told us & THERE WAS NO DRAGON. The 4 kids in our party were especially disappointed. Everyone vowed to never return, but I thought I'd research here. After reading your remarks I think it's worth it to try again to see that elusive dragon. I'm just glad that it wasn't a permanent removal.

Also, since this is my first posting, I'd like to say a big "Thank- You!" to everyone who offers great tips & advice here. Through these tips we were able to finally secure ressy's to Cindy's!!! (What a GREAT time we had too!!!) Plus I get my daily dose of Disney! Kudos to all of you!

We went in august of 2003 and the dragon was there. It was a great show!

Small world huh? We were getting ice cream in Frontierland in 2002 & the people behind us in line were from Whitehall. We're from Lehighton, so that's only 25 minutes away! We had a nice chat!

I'll definitely put Fantasmic on the agenda for the next trip. We are in the VERY early planning stages for a Grand Gathering in Nov/Dec of 2005. Hope they still offer all the perks by then!

We saw it in this past Feb and the dragon was there.

Its not uncommon for the dragon to be removed from the show. When this happens, its usually because either the weather conditions make it unsafe to use it, or the dragon itself is not functioning properly (it tends to break down from time to time).

We saw the dragon in Jan. of 2001. It was SO cold that night, I was almost wishing it was shorter. (almost, but not quite )

Wow this is good to know! I've seen Fantasmic about 4 or 5 times. I have always seen the dragon. I'd be bummed if it wasn't part of the show. I suppose I've been lucky and will know it is due to a mechanical problem if it disappears.

I did notice this time they had a steamboat willie (black & white too) steering the boat when all the characters come out and I had never noticed that before. Is this a new addition or have I just been in LaLa land for too long?

I saw it lots on the College Program Spring 99, never didn't see the dragon.

Also went back in May 2000, and April 2002. THe dragon was there both those trips, as well.
