Has anyone's ressie been cancelled yet over "The Code"

I really don't believe Disney is going to honor these rates. They are going to give you the option of paying rake rate, or cancelling. After they contact you, they will change the rate on your reservation to full price.

Now, I do think that if you fought it, you would be able to get the rate, however, if you try to go through the BBB- as long as Disney says they offered you a full refund, that will be good enough for them. Now if you were to get a lawyer and fight it, you would probably win, but it will most likely cost you more to hire a lawyer than you would save on the vacation

FYI- I booked 6 nights for the BWI "glitch" at over $1,400 (paid in full) It would have cost me about the same to stay at CBR through AAA, so I hardly call it a "free" room

isnt it possible that the cms were each giving a certain number of discounted rooms they could give out. and the reason some people were givin and even offered the discount while some didnt could be that the cms had giving out all they could. i mean the postcards and emails seem to be sent out at random. i got one and i've never stayed at disney world.

Nobody here has legal proof they were just 'offered' the code innocently on the call as opposed to asking for it. (Unless of course they violated state wire-tapping laws and recorded the conversation. )
That varies from state to state as well. Here in NJ it is totally legal to record your own phone line without having to notify your callers that you are doing so.I actually have a vocie recorder on mine due to some unsavory business with a phone solicitor some years ago.So i guess technically i have the ammo to sue if i wanted to. I wont, because i feel like i rolled the dice and i took my chances.

Can I online check my ressie if made through a TA? I have the conf #.

Per my TA, the only people who can check their ressies on line are those that made them on line or through CRO...I know, it stinks....

On another note - I had mentioned this on another thread but I still believe it - Disney is NOT losing any money over this and probably couldn't care less who is booking with the 40%. They have a set number of rooms set aside for this promo and when those rooms are gone they are gone. Up until a few months ago I was a financial analyst for a large airline. We had programs that crunched numbers for us and we know exactly how many frequent flier free seats we can offer on each aircraft and still have that flight be profitable because of all of the passengers that are paying full fare, in Disney's case RAC rate. When the FF seats are gone - that's it - no more free seats on that flight. That is why we aren't seeing any more 40% off bookings in concierge - those rooms are gone. Whether they were booked by people that were sent postcards or people that had something attached to their names in the system when they called in or for any other reason - Disney had planned that room to be discounted so they don't care who booked it.

And, I honestly believe - if this was some kind of huge no no for the CM's to book without PINS this would have been stopped way before today. This has gone on for over a week. We all know Disney's reservations system is not the best but they could have easily stopped this if they wanted to. I flat out don't think they care and these random comments we are hearing from supervisors that "Disney is aware of the situation and reservations will not be honored, blah, blah, blah" - I don't think they know any more than we know. We have heard just as many supervisors say there is no PIN needed.

Joe Q Public going to Disney has no idea this is even going on....it's just us Dis'ers and a few other communities - and like someone else has said - we aren't even a blip on Disney's radar....I know we'd like to think we run the show down there in Orlando but me thinks that's not the case ;)

I just think it is wrong for people to take advantage of a code situation that they were not intented to get! Everyone here so happy that they got in on the deal........well, I did, but I HAD a mailed offer to me! I think Disney should revoke anyone who took advantage of this! And people wonder why they never get mailed discounts! I never once had the nerve to ask for a code I did not get properly!

:rolleyes1

I really hope you're in back of me in Macy's one day and I have this 40% off coupon that was only sent to some houses and you tap me on the shoulder "Could I use that too...I'm spending $1000."

As of right now, no one knows for certain who "the code" is "intended" for. If a CM tells you you are "eligible" for a discount, then are you taking "advantage of a code situation?"

I don't think so...

Me thinks if she didn't get a postcard but a CM told her he can get her 40% off her attitude would be quite different, of course.

I am sorry but I find it really hard to believe that everyone here was "offered" something, I think they saw it here and tried to get something for less is more like it! It is my experiance here(which is approx 9 years) this is more of the case then not! Lets call it what it really is!:thumbsup2

You are lumping. Of course not "everyone" was "offered" something. But there are quite a few that were... myself included.

I don't like being lumped into a category. Too much like stereotyping...

I respectfully disagree. I don't remember much about the BWI glitch but that was a true glitch - people knew the pricing was messing up and taking advantage of it. In this case people (like me) flat out asked if a PIN was needed to book the 40% off and were told no. I told the CM I didn't have a PIN and saw the code on the message boards - could she see if I was eligible....after pulling up my name and address in the computer - No problem Mrs DisneyGuest let me see what we have available. Now, maybe I was flagged internally or maybe I was sent a postcard/email and never received it - I don't know....while I feel bad others can not get the 40% off I don't believe I did anything wrong in booking my room!

We'll see - either way we're going to Disney so all is well :goodvibes

There seems to be an awful lot of finger pointing going on about this. THose that got it that "don't have a pin" may have gotten it for some other reason unknown to us. Its easy to sit back and say you would never ask for a deal you weren't supposed to get, but if it was offered to you, I don't believe for a minute that any one of you would say oh, no thank you, that's not meant for me, I'd rather go ahead and pay an extra $1400 for my room. But thanks anyway.

Not one of us knows for sure about these codes and what the deal is. No one has gotten a straight answer from Disney either from Cm's or supposed supervisors. Some may get revoked, I doubt it, but its possible. If mine does, then it does. But I don't feel like I did anything sneaky or underhanded to get it. I asked about it and it was given.

If mine gets revoked I will be disapointed. If someone else who didn't have the pin gets to keep their's then congrats to them. But I woudln't wish for them to lose it just b/c I lost mine, or b/c I coudlnt' get one. Instead of being happy for eachother, why do we have to sit back and wish for something bad for someone else? Does it really make us feel better?

We need to grow up people. Life is not fair. It never has been and it never will be. People get things they don't deserve, people miss out on things they do deserve. Its the way it has always been. I don't see it changing any time soon. But honestly do we need to try to sabotage eachother? How would you feel if you were the one that got it and the ones that didn't were trying their hardest to have it taken away from you? I wish that everyone that wants it could use it. I'm excited about my discount. I'm happy for those others that got it. I'm even happier for those that saved more than me. Even when I was refused the first two times I called, I was still happy for those that got it and never once tried or would have tried to cause a fuss and cause them to lose it, or worse still, wish it away from them.

***************But grow up people.

When Disney quotes you a price, aren't they "offering" that to you? So I think all the people who were quoted discounts, were "offered" something. Just my opinion.
