Has anyone stayed in the White Mountains recently?

DH and I are planning a small 3d/2night trip there at the end of this month. I am dizzy after looking at all of the lodging options! Where have you stayed and did you like it or not? I am open to all types...B&B, cottages, hotel/motel...except camping! I will not sleep in a tent! LOL!:p

Hi Kim...last time I was in the White Mtns was at the Mt Washington Hotel in May for a conference. It was wonderful...stately old-fashioned resort hotel, gorgeous setting, golf, pool, etc and so forth. DH came with me....I went there with HIM for a conference last fall. We really enjoyed it for a getaway (for the one who didn't have to work ;) )
On the other end of the spectrum is camping....I'm with you there...NO more tents for me :)
You're right , the options are wide-ranging! WE've stayed in the Waterville Valley area before...a range of resort options there in a really pretty setting too....Snowy Owl Inn, condo resorts, a hotel whose name escape me. ......

Ex-H and I many years ago stayed at an inn in Bethlehem which was nice, the name had the year it was built in it....17XX House or something?!?!

For a B&B or an inn, look in the Jackson area....some really neat ones there and that's a beautiful but soemwhat less developed area than say Conway or Waterville Valley........... have fun and let us know what you decide!!!

We have stayed in North Conway, and at a couple smaller motels around the Mt. Washington area. As said above, Jackson. Any of the small towns around there afford a great selection. I like the Conway area though, lots of shopping, walking around and the railroad station is cool. LOVE it! Especially in the fall.

We love the White Mountains, we'll be there in a couple of weeks! We stay at the Red Jacket Inn in N. Conway, but its really geared towards families, so you might not want to be around so many kids! But, its really nice, huge rooms, 2 pools, BBQ's at the pool a few nights a week, 2 nice restaurants, etc. Good luck on deciding where to stay!!:D

This past winter, we stayed at the Bretton Arms which is at the same resort as the Mount Washington Hotel mentioned in NHAnn's post. It is a nice bed an breakfast type place within very short walking distance of the hotel. I liked it because you can use all the resort facilities but stay in a place with cozy B&B type feel.
Each has a great restaurant--the hotel being more elegant and formal.

A couple of years ago we stayed at a lovely inn called The Inn at Jackson Village. It was in Jackson NH, right near the Jackson covered bridge. A fairly short ride(under an hour) to Mt.Washington's Auto Road entrance and 10-15minutes from Conway, where all the outlets are. We had a nice room with a king size bed and I think it was $129/night. Well worth it.

Hubby and I were there in May. We stayed at the Comfort Inn in North Conway. It is a fairly new hotel and we found the rates to be very good. We had a microwave, frige and the most important thing, a coffemaker. Make sure to check out all the outlet stores and take a drive along the Kanamugus highway and enjoy the scenic areas along the road. It's a great stress reliever and beautiful as well.:)

NurseKim, I can maybe help with some specific stuff, I know most of the Inns and B&Bs but not much about the bigger hotels and motels

all you folks coming up to enjoy the White Mountains best not forget to stop in the Flatbread Company at the Eastern Slope Inn in North Conway and say howdy, I'm there Friday and Saturday night, Sunday day, all day Monday and most of Wednesday, stop in, I'll buy you a flatbread

I take it you don't mean the White Mountains in Arizona :)
