I'm looking at some potential concierge collection hotels. Has anyone used points in DC? We are a family of five-do any of the concierge collection hotels allow for five? Also looking at some California options-Shutters and Del coronado.

Yes, my family stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, but as there was only three of us, there was no issue concerning the number of occupants. Try looking at their website or calling the hotel directly.

BTW...We had a very nice stay, however room service was a bit expensive and there was a daily parking charge (I don't remember how much it was :confused3 ).

We just got back the Forth of July week from the Manderin. It was a beautiful hotel. Very upscale and new. Gorgeous lobby, clean, large rooms, and all marble bathroom. We paid extra cash for a water view because we were told it had more square feet. They can bring in a cot for a family of 5. It was $40.00 per day. Seemed steep to me so we brought an aero bed and it fit fine.

It is a bit off the beaten path (maybe 4 city blocks from the Mall /6 blocks to the business district and restaurants. ) but the location was so quiet. It was up on a hill by itself, in a cul de sac on the river and views of the Washington Monument. No traffic what so ever. It was worth the extra walk. BTW put your walking shoes on. We felt we walked more there than Disney if you can believe it.

They have 2 restaurants. We didn't eat at either but did snack at the lounge. It was ok. They had salads, and sushi and cocktails. Nice atmosphere.
Also, if you are Coke or Pepsi drinkers, bring a case or two with you. We were a bit of a captive audience up on the hill we had get it a the bar. A very small bottle (8 oz) was $4.50 , no refills.

Parking was also $40.00 a day.

Any other questions let me know!

We stayed there from June 24-26 and it was lovely. There was just two of us. We did not like the first room they put us in - the TV did not work properly and the view was lousy- so we called the front desk and they moved us to a bigger room - no extra charge!! We had a view of the Washington Monumont from our bathroom window!!

The service was 5 star- we did not eat at the restaurants in the hotel- we used the starbucks that opened up right across the street for breakfast.

the only bill we had was also for our rental car- $35 a day.

We are walkers and did not mind walking to the smithstonian which was only 5 minutes away- Jefferson memorial was a 10 minute walk-

the Concierge was great- If you like crab cakes I reccommend the Market Inn- you would have to take a cab there-

Any other questions- let me know

Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear about them allowing 5! Wow-$40/day to park! How far in advance did you book from member services?
