It seems to have what we need, but I would like to make sure it isn't a dump!

With a family of 5, we really like the two queens/sofa bed arrangement. My dh didn't want to do one of the timeshares b/c he likes for someone to come in and make up the beds/clean up his room while he's on vacation. I like that it has a refrigerator, so I won't have to fool with a cooler, and that breakfast is included.

tar heel,

I was in Williamsburg a couple of weeks ago and although I haven't seen inside the rooms I was checking out hotels for future trips and thought that the Springhill Suites would definitely be somewhere we might stay in the future. From the outside it looks like it's fairly new, well kept, and in my opinion it's in a great location.

It's actually on the far side of Williamsburg, away from the attractions, but the good thing about that is that part of town is easier to navigate traffic and all. It's located near lots of restaurants, gas, and closer to the outlet malls.

We did the time share thing. I booked King's Creek Plantation through hotels.com. It was great but you're right - no maid service. Also it's only convenient really to Water Country (next door), so it's a bit of a drive to restaurants etc. Of course you can stock your frig there. We did enjoy it. It had a big screen tv and fireplace in the living room, DH really enjoyed watching basketball games at night!

Have a great trip :)

We have stayed at a Springhill Suites in Illinois and they are very nice. Just right and not too fancy. Worth the money for the room. We also drove by the one in Williamsburg when we were there in December and it looked nice.

DD stayed there in the spring of 2002 on a school band/music trip. It was booked through the music/tour group we booked the whole festival through. Had 4 kids in each room and DD and other parents told me the hotel was nice..plenty of room. They all brought bottled water for the fridge and popcorn etc. for the microwave while back at the hotel at night.
Hopefully you'll be safe with your choice...I did not go on this trip, (I just came back from MD/DC area trip this year)but other band parents that went, said the Williamsburg was nice. They ate at a restaurant called Piccadilly's Deli or something like that nearby, but don't go there, the kids and adults said it was horrible!
Springhill offers a decent continental breakfast and DD says it had a nice indoor pool(small, but nice) too. They went to Colonial Williamsburg, but of course the highlight of the trip for the KIDS, was a day at Busch Gardens, followed by a picnic and an awards ceremony there.
Hope I helped and you have fun, whatever your choice.

Thanks for your help -- keep the information coming!

I have a price of $111, which seemed decent for a suite. Any wisdom on that?
