Hi

I am off to NYC on Wed

I have always thought about watching Phantom of The Opera for a while now. I am worried its overrated. Has anyone seen the show?

My dh would like to see Avenue Q Broadway show when we are there. I am worried it will be repetitive. We would get bored. There is only so long you can watch puppets for even if it is adult humour.

Any advice would be great. I have not seen either. :thumbsup2

Phantom is a beautiful show, a real classic, I wouldn't really class it as 'entertainment' as it is quite highbrow and you really have to watch and concentrate, its not side splittingly funny or anything, just a beautiful old fashioned love story.
Dont know Avenue q though :confused3

That is what Bruce is worried about. I love the music. I dont really like that type of music, but I really like the songs. Bruce is worried that we would get bored.

Here is a link to Avenue Q on broadway. You can see what they are.

My brother went to see Avenue Q in London a couple of weeks ago. He hasn't stopped talking about it since, and has bought the CD too :thumbsup2

I've seen Phantom twice Michelle, originally with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman (OMG I'm really getting old:scared: ). I loved it but then like you I loved the music. The stage set was terrific. I know what you mean about your DH though as I know for sure mine would hate it but then he hates musicals and only comes along with me in sufferance;).

Sorry can't help but we are going to see Phantom in London in July...belated birthday treat for DD. Hope you have a great time and get to see both!

We saw Phantom a couple of years ago in Manchester, the music is good but wasn't to keen on it overall.

Ive seen it approx 20 times! I had a fling with the guy that played the Phantom so he used to give me tickets to it!

Anyway, its a great show, very romantic.

Hi
We booked to see the Phantom but as I had only seen shows like Grease, Fame wasn't really sure if I would enjoy it. I needn't have worried it was fantastic and way way better than anything I have ever seen. The stage props were fantastic and the live music left me tingling ( even although this isn't the kind of music I normally listen to)

Highly recommened it - even my DH thought it was fantastic and he really isn't into musicals.
Linda
