Has anyone regretted going to Hoop-De-Doo?

We now call it the Hoop Dee Don't. It wasn't for us. My mom loved the original show from the late 80's into the 1990's but they changed the show around 2000. We went 3 years ago and mom was as disappointed as I was. The food is okay, not gourmet but it is edible and has taste but the show was dry and frankly we were bored. The families around us seemed to enjoy it but it wasn't for us so I would never spend 2 TS for it. In fact, my memory of my time there made me change my mind last year in going to see the SOA at Poly (I know a few people who stated that they felt the show there wasn't worth it either).

I just loved it, I have been twice. It is silly fun, I call it a Disney Hee Haw, very slap stick. We think the food is good, the kids can order other stuff, you just have to ask the waiter.

If you enjoy singing and dancing and silly entertainment, then go, and just laugh!

It's not something I would probably do outside of DW, but since we are always having such a good time there and eating at fun places, it fits right in!

We've been twice and don't regret it at all. The show is funny in a corny sort of way and had us laughing until we cried. I didn't care for the food, but only because I don't like fried chicken, ribs, corn on the cob, etc. My kids loved the food. Was it worth the price? I don't know, but in the scheme of a Disney vacation, it was such a small percentage of our total vacation cost that I can't get worked up about it. I doubt we'll ever go again (twice is enough for us), but no regrets.

Okay - I'm still on the fence, but leaning more towards giving it a try - thanks! BTW, exactly how long IS it?

DH and I will be going for the third time in December. We went in 2006 but did not go last year as DH did not want to but he wants to go this year. We both love it. We do not do the DP and I don't mind the fact that our credit card is charged ahead of time because that is just one more thing I have paid off before we go! It is corny but fun and I love the fried chicken and the beer!

We had heard from a friend how great the show was. We paid OOP for tickets and DH was dreading it - honestly he did not want to go at all. But it was the highlight of our trip for both of us. I just asked DH how he would describe the show and he said "It's not to be missed; you have to go". That is our 2 cents for what its worth. We are 35 & 36, no kids.

The show lasts 2 hours including the meal. I have been 7 times and will go again. Last year I took 3 friends, all late 40's early 50's and they loved it. The service has always been a-one and the food is awesome to this country boy. Ribs and fried chicken, cornbread, beans and all the Bud Lite you care for.
Two years ago I was the star of the show. At 6'2 and 270 I was a pirouetting beauty!

Our GANG of seven will be trying this out for the first time this August! This will be my 13th trip to WDW and the first time for HDDR!!! Can you BELIEVE it?!? We will be using 2TS (FREE) to attend. We're planning of LOVING it!!

We've been four times and enjoyed it every time. It's not a must do every trip but maybe every other year. The food has always been decent although not much that DD will eat. She picks at the chicken and likes the baked beans. DH and I thought the ribs were tasty. Our server did ask if she would like something different but she said she was fine. The show is better than the food in our opinion.

Absolutely not!!!!! We love this and do it every trip. The kids really enjoy it and have a blast. We did it in January and my brother and uncle were picked to be in the little show they put on at the end, made it even better. I think you should definitely do it.

We didn't not like it at all.

The food was just average. Dessert was terrible. The cake was very grainy - almost like putting whipped cream on cornbread. The ribs were the best thing offered, and they were not great. The sangria tasted like it contained some furniture polish. :scared:

Our boys were 5 and 7, and they hated the show. They kept asking why we were there. We really tried to like it, but we just didn't. We are all about silly humor - heck, we watch SpongeBob everyday at home - it just wasn't very funny.

Another drawback was that the bathrooms are outside. I had to sneak out with DS and go to the building next door to take him to the bathroom. Not fun.

The entire night I kept asking myself why this show is so popular? I just don't get it. There is so much other entertainment at Disney that is included with your park tickets that I just can't justify paying extra for this show. It just didn't work for us.

Has it really changed. We went first in 1993 and sat in the front Center row table and remember some of the jokes and even the ones that were directed at this table. Returned again in 1997 and the show seemed the same.

We went again in 2004 and the jokes were the same and pretty much everything seem similar, even noticed the joke that was directed at the front center table was the same as it was in 1993. Went again in 2005 and yes, it was the same.

Can anyone confirm this?

I have to say we enjoy it and our DD who was just under 3 (she was "free") the first time she went in 2004 remembers it after looking at the pictures from 2004 and 2005. She wants to go back.

It is a commitment from your day as it does take some time to get to the HDDR and then they ask you to be there 1/2 hour before start of show and it is at least a 90 minute show. When you only have a week, sometimes fitting everything in can be a challenge.

And if you're a drinker, the all you can drink beer and white zin will make the show that much better! This doesn't come with the dining plan does it?
Yes. But it takes 2 TS credits per person for tier 2 or 3 seating at all shows except 9:30 pm. At the 9:30 show you can get tier 1 seating with the dining plan using 2 TS credits.

We absolutely LOVE IT!!! Never regretted it EVER! My kids now 9 1/2 & 12 request it almost every trip.:thumbsup2
