Just wondering if anyone has ordered Disney Stocks through oneshare.com. If so, how was your experience?

I have.It was quick and easy.I ordered mine with a frame and a engraved plaque.Several weeks later I recieved a bunch of stuff from Disney for shareholders including the IRS form for filing next year.Big Whoop there, my One Share earned me 28 cents...lol.A few months ago I recieved a bunch of stuff from Capital Cities Broadcasting, I guess because Disney sold off their Radio Disney to Capital Cities I am now the proud owner of 3/4 of a share in Capital Cities Broadcasting and it paid 38 cents for 3/4 of a share...Im raking in the cash now...LoL

Not to hijack your thread, but I am wondering about oneshare.com too? Can you buy more than one share???

My husband bought me a one share of Dinsey and Washington Mutual. ( I work for WaMu).
The Disney framed certificate is in my home office and the WaMu certificate is hanging in my office at work.
I own about 500 shares of Disney but they are with a brokerage firm. It's great to have the certificate, it's one of the better looking stock certificates.
We have bought several different stocks from One Stock. We have never had a problem.

jkfreeman33, do you get any perks for having the Disney certificate: discounts or anything?

Shareholders are usually not entitled to anything special associated with the company that they represent. They are sent the annual report, board announcements, sometimes voting priviledges for board members and company policy and an invitation to the annual shareholder's meeting.

If Disney has additional benefits for its shareholders, I'm not aware of them. I find the annual reports good reading. For example, you'd be surprised how many big companies have failed to invest enough in their own retirement funds to meet their future needs. (Financial problems ahead!) As an aside, if you're a Wall Street Journal subscriber you can order annual reports from as many companies as you like for free.

My dh got me one for Christmas last year. However he isn't good with anything that has buttons on it LOL so he had my sister order it. She said it was very easy. The stock came in a nice frame. I loved it.

DW got me one for christmas last year...too easy

on a side note JK...I bank with wamu...if I send you my info can you add a few zero's so we could head back to WDW? :lmao: :lmao: :thumbsup2

You can purchase more than one share, but you are paying way over market value. If you are just interested in being a Disney shareholder, you would do better to go through someplace like Sharebuilder.com. The commission you pay is very small.

If you are interested in the certificates, you could go through a regular broker and just ask to have certificates issued. You will still pay a commission, but, depending on the brokerage firm you use, you will pay less than you would buying individual shares through OneShare.com.

I've been purchasing Disney stock for my DD on a monthly basis for several years now. It is very easy. I have an automatic buy order in for $100 a month with Sharebuilder. On the second Tuesday of the month, the money is deducted from my checking account and they purchase as many shares as possible using the $100 given the market price. The commission is $4. So easy and a nice nest egg building for DD. I purchase several other stocks this way as well.

Thanks for all of the replies! Since of course our one share would just be for a little added addition to our keepsakes, could someone tell me about the size and the quality of the certificate? Thanks!:upsidedow

What a terrific idea...thanks. I think I may have to head over there and check it out.

Disney used to give discounts via the "Magic Kingdom Club" back in the 1980's for Disney shareholders. They discountinued them quite some time ago.

As far as buying shares of Disney from oneshare.com, Feralpeg is spot on.

I bought it years ago for some family members. They were thrilled and we framed their certificates for them. BTW, purchased Pixar for DD and when Disney bought Pixar she got 4 shares of Disney for her Pixar. Pixar had already split 1 for 1, so my one share purchase is now 4 shares for her. They sent new certificates when we signed over the Pixar. (Listed the certificate as lost so we could keep it framed) It makes her happy to think it may split again sometime. I highly recommend it for a gift. Also, the certificates are very nice with all of the historical characters surrounding the border. There should be a photo of one on the oneshare site.

Is that $4 a month for the commission?

How long does it take for the framed certificate to arrive? If I ordered one now would it be here by Christmas? Thanks!

Sharebuilder has several different commission schedules to pick from. The $4 is per stock transaction. Since I purchase Disney stock for my DD, I pay $4 per month. If you were to purchase several varities of stock per month, you would pay on a different schedule.

If you purchase share through Sharebuilder, they are held in book form. If you want a certificate you would need to purchase through a regular brokerage firm or through OneShare.com. You would need to check their website for the delivery timeframe.

I have ordered from one share a couple of times. My son has a framed share of Disney stock as well as I do. I also bought him a framed share of Pixar stock when it actually existed.

You can actually purchase stock directly from Disney , eliminating the commission fees.
