I have not seen this on more recent trips to WDW because whenever going to Downtown Disney, my family & I would take my Dad's Jeep there. Anyway when we would take the Disney Transport Bus back to the Contemporary people who would get on, would get off at the Pleasure Island stop & continue on their way to Pleasure Island. These people can do whatever they want, but I have always wondered isn't it faster to walk on over to Pleasure Island in general, even if they were at the other end of DTD Marketplace? Either these people are the type that does not like to walk, or they had no clue you can walk from Marketplace to Pleasure Island, however I can not see why others would do that. Anyway I am not in anway flaming these people or trying to :stir:. It's something I am just curious about & nothing else.

My bet is that they just don't realize that you can walk through. :moped:

You ask different, and somewhat interesting questions.

I suspect some guests going from the RFC area of the Marketplace might not want to walk, particularly if they are continuing on to the West Side. They may be tired or have a problem walking. It might be raining or a very hot day. Some of those guests might be carrying a lot of purchases. Might even be taking a bus to get closer to where they parked a car. Not everyone stays on site.

I suspect many of the guests don't realize how close the two bus stops are.

Did you ask any of those guests? That would give you real answers as opposed to the speculation of DIS members. My guess is DIS members would walk but less savvy guests might just look at a transportation directory and take the bus.

As a former driver, many guests don't realize the two areas are walkable distances.

You can walk through. But if you're at the Rainforest Cafe and you're going to the Adventurers Club, it's a LONG walk. And if you're trying to get to a show at a certain time, I think the bus might actually get you there faster.

No I did not ask them because it's non of my business what they do & besides even if I wanted to, they had already got off the bus.

I am sure that people are wondering why, if I'm going to the Adventurers Club and I'm trying to make a show, I don't just get off the bus at the Marketplace and walk.

Because the bus is actually FASTER, assuming it doesn't linger at the marketplace stop. Unless I want to run all the way through the Marketplace AND PI since the AC is at the far end of PI (near the bus stop).

If it's none of your business... why are you asking us? :confused3

Let me rephrase that. I thought if I asked this at that time to them, it would not be any of my business. Why I am asking you, I thought I just throw it out there as a general question.

Was it really hot when you were there? Perhaps they were trying to stay out of the heat. Maybe they were headed to DQ or La Nouba ... which is quite a long walk from the Marketplace.

I read it more as a thinking out loud question.... food for thought, whatever. Definitely not worth folks getting all worked up about...

I would walk, but to each their own.....

We leave tomorrow!

I agree it's probably just a lot of people who don't know you can walk from Marketplace to PI. After all, it you could walk it, why would it have its own bus stop?

Lots of people have no idea that Pleasure Island is even part of Downtown Disney. They just get on teh bus and get off at the sign that says Pleasure Island.
