Has anyone made the switch to LED Christmas lights?

We will be putting ours on for the first time this year. We have a prelit white tree but I always add colored lights to it. I picked up several boxes last year at Michaels when they were marked way down

We are switching over for the outdoor lights, not all at once but as we replace/add to our decorations. I haven't decided yet whether I'll switch indoors. They don't have the same twinkle/glow in photos that traditional lights do. I like them outdoors because they don't seem to burn out as easily (our oldest strands are 3 years old) and there's no hunting down and replacing unlit bulbs, but I'm still not sold on them for on the tree itself.

We bought them for the tree inside last year as well as the icicle lights for outside.... I HATE them....

I prefer white lights, but let my girls talk me into colored ones for the tree.... well, they're supposed to be red, blue, green, and yellow..... the red and yellow both appear almost as orange, so it makes the tree look rather stupid-as though it's just orange, blue, and green lights :confused3 Looks more like a Halloween tree than a Christmas tree...

That being said, the icicle lights are SUPPOSED to be white, but they come out as light icy blue. It looks kind of "off" with the non LED bright white lights that are wrapped around all the shrubs just below them :sad2:

Not sure what we're doing this year. We spent too much $$ buying new lights last year after our others had burnt out (and our pre-lit tree bit the dust). I just really, really hated what our tree looked like last year with the predominantly orange bulbs! :rotfl:

We switched last year and won't be going back :thumbsup2

Absolutely love the glow from the LED and the style of lights we purchased. Expensive... yes but worth it IMO :goodvibes

We switched 2 years ago for the outside trees and love them. We switched to white LEDs about 4 years ago for our inside tree and love them as well.

We got them last year (the large, multi colored ones) and, I have to say, it was a bit "more" than I anticipated....it's sort of like having mini-neon signs all over your tree. PP's are right - it does not create a "warm glow". I'm debating swapping back to regular lights...

We bought those when we got our first tree which is 5 years ago this year. We like them. They've lasted all this time except for 1 string and they're cool to the touch which is great. Ours are shaped like the old Christmas lights so we don't really see a difference in the light it puts out.
