Has anyone joined AAA online?

I'm wondering how soon after joining are the membership benefits active? Do you get a temporary card you can print out from the website? Or do you have to wait to get one in the mail?

I joined online and at the end of the registration process the website gave me my AAA number so I could start using the benefits immediately. The actual card and member kit arrived in a week.

I'm not sure about online, but last year when I signed up at the office, they gave me a print out, until my card arrived.

I joined online a couple of years but just let it expire. All the towing companies near here have dropped AAA for road service calls due to low payments from AAA. The room discounts were nice, but now I qualify for a senior rate at most places.
