Has anyone heard of this?

My sister was telling me about a plush Mickey Mouse interactive toy called Pal Mickey. It not only interacts at home but children can carry it around the park and it will talk about when characters are close by, when parade times are near as well as insider tips while inside the park.

She found this on the internet but doesn't know where to buy or how much it is.

Has anyone heard of this product? Any info would be great, we leave for Saratoga Springs on Aug 25 and are hoping to get this for my 2 year old niece.

Thanks for all your help
Lynn

Yes I have seen it in action. They sell them at the parks and all disney hotels. I believe they are around $50 and the people I had seen using seemed like they were enjoying it.

Pal Mickey is a hoot and a half!

He can be rented, or purchased at each of the parks.

He tells jokes, tells you interesting tidbits about the park as you walk through it, and is really enjoyable.

DW loves hers, and gives him a squeeze now and then to hear him tell us a joke between visits to WDW. Anything to keep the pixie dust flying.

:smooth:

I have one, and he is great. He tells jokes, and plays game at home. He hasn't been "home" yet, but I thinks he is very cool. I got mine on Ebay, but you can order directly from WDW by contacting sales on the website. They can ship one if you want it before you go. I also know they can be rented at the parks.

Have a great trip!::MickeyMo

We purchased one last Aug. for my neice (9 yo) and it turned out to be quite entertaining for all. Having it with us stirred up conversation while using the WDW transportaation as everyone wanted to know what it was and where to get one. I believe it was $50.00 but I may be mistaken. You can rent them as well as others have said but I do not know the price. Just one more way to create magic while you are there as well as waiting for your next trip.

I thought Pal Mickey was really cute until I rented one. We could not hear him in the parks and then no one wanted to carry him. Guess who got stuck with him? Was the one I rented defected or are they all hard to hear in the parks? Thanks.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm definately going to have to see about picking this up.

Thanks!!

Probably. I usually have it hanging on my bottle strap. Even hanging down around my waist, I could still hear it most of the time. It is hard to hear if there is a lot of background noise.

He's $60 and yes, he is a bit hard to hear in the parks because of the background noise--not so at home. There he's plenty loud.

I rented mine with full intentions to return it after 2-3 days. Somewhere in MGM my heart turned.

Yes, he tells you where to find characters for meet'n'greet, he tells you about showtimes, he even reminded us about short lines at Star Tours ... but the real clincher was his directing us to find special sound effects hidden in crates in a nearby store. We opened one, then two ... then noticed a whole wave of park guests trying the same thing. (I'm not sure the store's employees enjoyed MPM sharing that tip ... but we sure did!)

Last Dec rates were $8/day rental (noon to noon) or $60'ish to purchase. Battery replacements are free of charge.

Mine has been back once (since original purchase) and has two additional trips scheduled w/in the next 7 months. Can't wait!

question--

I'm planning on picking up a Pal Mickey in July. If we get him at DD at the big store, we can still use the AP discount can't we? I'm thinking that makes him pretty cheap!

Here is a website that has "Pal Mickey's Grown-up Pals Club"

Pal Mickey's Grown-up Pals Club

They have a section that has different pictures people took of their Pal Mickey. Someone did a trip to WDW through Pal Mickey's eyes.

We rented one last year and it was kind of fun.

The Budget Board has a thread at the top of the page on swapping Pal Mickeys. If I remember correctly (it's been quite a while since I read it), people who are arriving arrange to meet people who are leaving and they pass the Pal Mickey on so that nobody has to buy or even rent one. If you're interested in one just for using at WDW, you might want to check out that thread.

I know I've seen it before, but which gift shops carry MPM?

I had the opposite experience. I rented him, with every intention of buying him afterward, but we ended up returning him early. I just didn't think it was worth the money. He didn't provide any information we didn't already know, and we quickly got tired of lifting him up to our ears. I probably would have bought him if my 3 year old DS liked him, but he didn't want anything to do with it.

With the 10% discount, it will be $54, instead of $60.

Kim,
If you click on the link I posted on page 1 of this thread it mentions some of the stores you can find him. We're DVC Members and found him in both the OKW and BWV gift shops last year.

I had never heard about this before... Is Pal Mickey programmed with a standard number of sentences that don't change, or is it interactive so that if you went to the park in a different year, what he says would change. I mean, if it's always the same, why would you want to take him more than once?

He has a receiver built into his nose. He downloads new park information at each gate (showtimes, character greetings, etc) and amuses you with fresh and updated info each visit.

However ... the jokes seem to remain static. I'm ready for new ones!
