Has anyone had to file a complaint?

Back to the topic! I've complained once, but after I had gotten home. My wife and I ate dinner at Cafe Orleans. We both had the monte cristo (her- just cheese as she is a vegetarian, and me with meat). We were SO sick before we had even left the park. Lets just say we live 15 minutes down harbor in Costa Mesa and we had to stop twice to use the restroom. We weren't sure if it was from the food just not settling with us, or if something just was off with the food. So we did email disney about it. Not really complaining or demanding anything, just letting them know something might or might not have been up with the food that night...

:sad2: Wow, is all I can say to some of the other comments about wheelchair users and the disabled. Wish I could say that it amazes me how ignorant people are in this world. But it doesn't. My brother is severly mentally disabled, in addition to physically disabled, and does not understand or tolerate long lines. He would have had a melt down had we got in a super long line. Not a big deal when it's a toddler, not such a good thing when it's a 28 year old man. So it's something we try to avoid, for his sake, and those around us.

Disabilities come in many forms. It is frustrating when people abuse the wheelchairs. It makes me mad to know people do that, because it only hurts those who really need it. But that doesn't mean EVERYONE is doing that.

We would seriously love for my brother to have a normal life. To have a family of his own, standing in those long lines. IMO people should be grateful that they weren't robbed of a life at birth, as my brother was, and stop being so petty because someone goes ahead of you on a RIDE. IMO anyone that gets upset over that, seriously needs to grow up. We go usually twice a year, without my brother, and have no problem waiting in long lines. I would suggest getting educated on the many different kinds of disabilities people have, and what their families go through on an every day basis. Personally, I don't give a crap what other people think, because they are usually ignorant to such conditions.

i only got to the end of the second page before i thought i should respond.

most of you have read the first like two lines of my previous post and gone from there. a few things i need to say. one.. for anyone that as a disability and as such requires the use of such devices, from wheelchair to walking cane, i am sorry.. having lived with a family member who needed a wheelchair i understand how embarrasing they can be in public.

two, my issue was not that people with serious health issues should be treated the same as people are either fat, with no medical issue or the average person. my issue was that i am annoyed that sometimes people just get at the ride loading area, and get on and go simply because they were able to bypass the line.

if for one second you think i am cold and heartless then most of you are true americans. for the most part i have had a great time in america and which is why i am heading back again, but people seem to think in america that if they are wronged in anyway that it is the entire countries fault and they need to show them some sort of sympathy.

i will not stand by and have my words mis-interpreted. i think, back to the original post, what the cast member did was wrong. but i think just because you use a mobility device you need to show some consideration for other people.

you might be ill and it may have caused weight gain, a friends wife had the same thing, so i know about it. but next time you just get on a ride look around in the queue and see how many little kids are standing there, at the end of a long day, they will be as pooped as you are. but they manage to wait.

You really summed up what I wanted to say. I don't think it's heartless or cold to treat everyone equally and make folks stand in line. Where does the line get drawn? Kids with A.D.D. can't possibly be expected to sit in a 45 minute line now can they? They should get special rights too!

I think, in the end, people need to use mobility devices and wheelchairs for ease of getting around the parks, go for it! You shouldn't have to be in pain during your trip, but people should not be allowed to bypass lines simply because they're disabled. If I was in a wheelchair, I'd feel absolutely guilty about bypassing lines while everyone else had to sit around and wait. I DON'T see the logic in someone who is simply physically handicapped getting special treatment. Perhaps that makes me young and naieve, but I've got my own problems to deal with, and I don't bring that crap into my outings to inflict it upon others.

Now, someone who is mentally handicapped, like Jen's brother, that's an entirely different ball game. That would be frustrating for him, his family, and the people around him. But just because you can't walk around doesn't mean you can't sit patiently and wait like everyone else.

sorry again, for anyone that has sufferedd through life with a disabilty sorry. but as summed up in the last post, you might be using a mobilty device because of a broken ankle, weight caused by disease or just cause you have bad knees (which i do) but i think if you bypass the line for the ride, even waiting a few extra mins once you get the load area wont hurt.

like i said in my original post, no body has a condition that makes them get on a ride, and if they dont they die.

wow ppl like you are the reason i didnt get a wheel chair before..well this time i am and the heck to all those who have words for me about it humph
if i get in faster grate ty if not i wont complain but some one needing to stay out the sun the cm should of accepted it. that was rude

I'm glad you decided to get one this time. You really can't let what other people think stop you from taking care of yourself.

I have Crohn's Disease myself. Thankfully I've always been well on DL trips. But there have been times in my life where I was severly anemic, to the point where walking to my kitchen made me out of breathe. Or very fatigued from being so ill. Darn right I'd get a wheel chair if I needed it. I don't "look" sick most of the time either, so I get judged a lot. But it isn't going to stop me from taking care of myself.

Going in to the fast pass line would have had a wait. Even when we went through the exit we never just got on the ride. POTC, IASW, Peter Pan... I can go on, all came with at least a 5 minute wait. It's the hour my brother couldn't have handled, because of him being mentally disabled.

No people don't die if they don't get on a ride. Neither do people who have to wait a few extra minutes, so that someone less fortunate can get on.

I agree with you. If I break my leg, and the line is wide enough for a wheel chair, I'd HAPPILY wait in line with everyone else. I wouldn't feel like I deserved anything special there. Problem is 99% of the rides at DL don't have wide enough lines. DCA was made better for that.

For my brother it's just a different situation, so his needs are a bit different then the typical person that needs a wheelchair.

i have no issues with waiting a few extra minutes to let someone on the ride, i think they will get more out of it than i, but i do have an issue with people who expect to be let on the moment they get there

Well then I guess I don't understand your first post at all. Considering it was about what had happened to my family. I never once claimed we wanted right to the front of the line, and to get on at that very moment.

we've been to DLR dozens and dozens (and dozens, lol) of times, and never ONCE have i been bothered at all by the fact that some people are allowed to spend less time in line due to an injury or disability. i'm surprised that people enjoying disneyland would have time to notice, let alone feel compelled to complain about it.

i notice i've gotten weird looks at times for using my parent swap pass even! it's as though people just assume i was allowed further up the line for no good reason, not realizing that i just sat outside the exit for 45 minutes with a busy or fussy toddler so that my husband and older children could ride the attraction. i figure in that case, i've actually "waited" my time, i just wasn't standing in same line they were, lol.

some people will complain no matter what, though.

That's a very good example! Same with the single rider lines. Guess we need to do away with both of those, since everyone should be waiting in stand by. Heck, same for fast pass. Why should ANYONE get to go ahead of the stand by line?

But yes, it is mind boggling to me that people would complain about such a thing. But your right, people will always complain, no matter what!

Sorry to chime in yet again, but all this wheelchair discussion was NEVER about disabilities or handicaps. Thousands of people could post their stories about brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, themselves with handicaps...we see it every day and unfortunately people suffer every day of their lives. Remember that there is ALWAYS someone worse off than you! It's not about being heartless or cold or uncaring. It was simply about bypassing lines. It's not a show-n-tell thread about whose handicap is worse. It's not about "hidden disabilities". It's not about fat or skinny people. It's not about how great you are that you don't care about lines or rides or whatever. It's just about bypassing lines and I did read somewhere that Disney is becoming very strict about it (I read that on this thread), so there MUST be some merit to what people have said!!!

ty jen- well i still cant get an answer out of any doc i go to about whats wrong but its been for three years now. since i messed up both ankles when at work and a bunch stuff happened. well I used a wheel chair in wdw and hated the way i felt ppl were looking at me so when went to dl last year i didnt get ECV or wheelchair..well by the end of 3erd day my ankles hurt so bad we were sitting down every few mins.

actually, this thread was about filing complaints, not bypassing lines. you're trying to "fix" what you started by disregarding important points people have made, simply because what you said to begin with made you look bad (by the way, nobody did that TO you, you did it to yourself). maybe you should just quit while you're (not) ahead. i doubt i speak for only myself when i say that your tirade is getting old.

If you have problems with people bypassing lines because of a disability, then you must take issue with FP, single rider lines, as well as parent swapping. They all bypass stand by.

I don't see the merit in some of these posts, sorry. I see it as some people who could use some education on the many mental disabilities people have. I realize most of the comments are about people being upset because someone who is worse off then them gets to go ahead of them. I find that very petty.

And since you don't know, Disney can't become strict about people using the exit when their lines are not wide enough for wheel chairs. That's all I gotta say about this topic, seriously not worth my time.

Actually, it's about filing a complaint. You turned it into people who you don't think warrant use of wheelchairs getting to bypass the main lines. What was it? Oh, yes, "F*A*T" people. Let's not spin it.

Ok, I give up. I never said anything negative about anyone with disabilities, but if that would make everyone feel better to say I did, then you should be feeling REALLY great right about now.

Yes, the thread was about complaints. It evolved somehow into skipping lines...but if that is a legitimate complaint from someone, who are you to invalidate that complaint?

Wow - really tough crowd!!! Keep complainin'!!!

"Tirade"? Sorry - not so at all. I am very calmly typing away, kind of in amazement at how I, and a few others here, have obviously hit a nerve. I'd hate to have an opinion on an election or something like that!!!
