We have free dining and while I am really looking forward to many of the entrees and some of the desserts I can't help but thinking that that is a LOt of desserts.

Let me know what location & what you have been able to trade for ..tia

When this change first came around last year, there weren't many reports back on the trade for TS. I remember one was offered green beans at The Wave, but can't even recall any of the others. If it's something you want to do, you'll just have to ask and see what they offer. It is up to each individual restaurant what they will allow, if anything.

We were at WDW June 4th to 8th. We were able to get a very good salad at Boatwrights instead of dessert. DH and our friend were able to get two beverages instead of dessert for their counter service meals at ABC Commissary. My son-in-law was able to get a salad at Liberty Tree Tavern lunch instead of dessert. I believe they had been able to get salads at several meals. DH was able to get soup instead of dessert at BOG lunch.

We've swapped out a dessert at BOG lunch for French onion soup. If pre-order, soup will show up in dessert section. Pick it there instead of in the appetizer section. Makes the process a lot easier. Otherwise they'll want to charge you extra for the soup because their computer shows it as an appetizer. We made that mistake twice this week and they fixed it at the register.

I just want to highlight that this was done for LUNCH at BoG. The swap for QS is spelled out in the brochure. The TS swap is not, and is the discretion of each individual restaurant. Has anyone been able to trade the dessert for soup or salad or something at BoG DINNER?

We also swapped at France's QS ( Les Halles I think it's called??): lobster bisque instead of a drink. And at Sunshine Seasons QS: tomato bisque instead of a drink.

ETA: I just realized you may be asking for swapping at TS which we've never tried. QS no problems.

That was very helpful. Thank you. I hope a lot of people read it.

Ask about no-sugar or diabetic friendly dessert options too. CdF gave me a gorgeous bowl of berries instead of a heavy dessert and that might be more up your alley.

I'm curious about this question too, as DH has diabetes, and can't have desserts unless they are sugar-free, and I'm not seeing any sugar-free dessert options. Is his diabetic need something we can tell the server when we arrive? The entrees aren't the problem, but the desserts are.

^^ I'm looking at the online menus via the wdw website. Haven't seen sugar-free sorbet for Cali Grill, BoG or Coral Reef, but if that's a dessert option, then I'm pleased! Thank you!

Coral Reef will have a sugar-free option available. One of the eclairs at BoG is sugar-free. I'm sure Cali has something as well. There is a cheese plate listed in the dessert section. I'm not sure if that is a "for two" item requiring two people to order it or not.

Options vary. Some places have a no-sugar added option, some don't. Some of those that don't will offer a substitution. I got a lovely bowl of fresh berries at CdF.
