We our planning our August trip and decided to try something different and make an ADR for H&V for the Fantasmic package. I am VERY worried about this one since I have read so many negative posts recently about the food quality and cleanliness. I'm hoping to get some positive feedback that would make me feel a little better about my choice. It will be myself, DH, DS (12) and DD (5) on this trip and, since my kids are on the picky side  , I was thinking a buffet would please all.

Any input is always appreciated! :wave2:

We have eaten there several times and were always pleased with the quality of food and service.

This is the ONLY restaurant on property that we will NEVER do again. It was just awful. The cold food was warm, the hot food was cold, everything was bland, nothing was refilled on the buffet, the service was absent, and even the desserts were awful. The place was not clean, loud, and we waited forever with PS. Never again.

I guess we've been lucky - had good meals there in 2005 & 06. It was clean & the service was good - especially this past April. The food was plentiful, meat at the carving station was a hit with my DS & bro in law.
All the food temps were fine - salads chilled & hot food was well prepared & at the proper temp. We don't go there expecting anything but buffet food & it's been fine. We like it for the Fantasmic pkg & would go back again. Good luck with your decision. ;)

When we went 12/04 I found it to be quite good as did my picky eater children.... we've decided to do Mama Melrose's this time though as we have too many buffets in our ADR's already :)

We've eaten there twice and we will definitely be going again. Good experiences both times. :thumbsup2 The beef at the carving station was excellent the night we were there, probably one of our favorite meals that trip.

Last time, we enjoyed the food there way more than the food at Prime Time. Admittedly the atmosphere is better at PT, but my kids got a kick out of the retro decor too at H&V too. Give it a try. :wizard:

We ate there last year (in early June) and it was great! The place itself was pretty enough, cool color scheme. We had a great host and server. If you have kids it's a great place because of a wide variety of "kid" friendly foods. We'd eat there again. While it's not PT 50's there certainly isn't anything wrong w/ it. Have a great trip.

We went in Dec 05 and had a great meal. My dh who does not really "do" buffets even enjoyed it.

We've eaten there twice and both times had GREAT service and GREAT food and the dessert bar was awesome! There was plenty of hot food and if something was low, we just asked and it was refilled in seconds! The only problem we had was that our ADR was for 5:30 for the 7:30 PM show, they didn't seat us until almost 6:30! I could understand it being busy however, there were plenty of empty tables that just weren't clean in time. All we had to do was speak with the manager and not only did she make sure we got seated immediately, she had two servers on our drinks and then personally escorted us to Fantasmic so we got seating, they also did it for another woman and her children. We chalked it up to, hey things happen, but I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again for the show.

Personally, I really like Hollywood and Vine. A friend and I sort of stumbled upon it one day and it was AMAZING! My poor friend ate until she could hardly walk. :rotfl2: I would recommend H&V to anyone and everyone. :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :lovestruc

I have been eating at H&V for years. I have never had a bad meal here. Sometimes the service gets slow, because of the crowd. But really the server is only there to bring refills and to remove empty plates.
I look forward to being back in Sept.
Excellent salads, wonderful selection of breads and rolls, best dessert station of any buffet (IMO).
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We booked the package last May. My family (including two adult children) enjoyed H & V very much. I have read some negative comments concerning the food and service, but our service was great (it was the waitress' very first day - but she did a great job) We really enjoyed the food. I am a dessert person and was able to find at least three things I really enjoyed. We are planning a Thanksgiving trip and plan to eat there again.

WE've eaten there several times and never had a problem. We didn't go there on our last trip, but we do have a ADR for our June trip. I would go ahead and try it. Every body is differant and even though I love to get feedback from other people, I still like to sometimes draw my own conclusion. Good luck on what ever you decision is.

Thanks everyone for your input - I am so happy to hear some positive reviews for a change! My DH and I decided to keep our ADR and give it a shot - I guess you never really go to Disney for the food anyway! The great thing for us with the Free Dining Plan is the ability to try new restaurants - we usually steer clear of Disney TS restaurants because of their cost, so we are looking forward to new experiences!!

Thanks again

We ate at H & V in August with the Fantasmic Package. We enjoyed the food and thought that the service was good. My only complaint is that the restaurant noise level was very loud, but I guess that is the case with most restaurants at WDW when there are a lot of young kids dining at once.

Dh loved the seafood. I thought that all of the food was pretty good for a buffet. My kids thought it was a blast to make their own sundaes. I would be glad to eat there again someday.

This was probably my least favorite meal on our trip in 2005 but the service was fine, the restaraunt was clean, and the buffet was always filled in. I thought the food was boring, but I have been to culinary school, everyone else at the table liked the meal. The only other complaint I have was that it took the longest to be seated here even though we arrived on time for our ADR. This year we our going to try the Mama Melrose package because my DD isn't very good about standing in lines. She liked going to the reserved seats early and playing with her toys while we waited for the show to start.

See this is exactly why, if there's a place you want to eat at, go eat and try it out, hollywood and vine happened to be one of our best meals in mgm, the food tasted fresh and was just good down home food, now on the other hand 1900 park fare was horrible to us, but other people rave about it. I think it depends on when you go and what you are use to eating. Give it a try ! :)

My family loves it!!! We will be going again on our next trip. The corn spoon bread is the best!!!!!! I hope you enjoy it! :thumbsup2
