Has anyone got their summer 2005 quote from DU yet???

I got mine last night but it was for a CAT 11 instead of the CAT 10 we had requested!!!

Luckily, I had gotten caught up in the hype on these boards and waited on hold with DCL for 55 minutes yesterday. I was able to get my CAT 10 for $3982.67 (2 adults/1 child). I paid the confirmation deposit this morning.

The Cat 11 quote probably won't go to waste, though. My Aunt and Uncle want to have it so I'm hoping DU will be able to keep the rate for two adults and just drop the child rate from it. If it's requoted, the price will increase by $1000!

DU and Tammy totally came through for us, as always.

Last night we went to bed before our quote arrived, so of course the first thing we did this morning was hustle out to the computer--and there was our quote.

In addition to filling out the DU quote form early on, we had sent a couple of emails to Tammy with additional requests as things occurred to us.

We got everything we wanted: May 28th, Cat 6, Deck 5, late seating for dinner, insurance, and transfers, for a grand total of $4071.16 (2 adults). From that amount we get to deduct $75 because we had just become a DIS Lifetime Sponsor.

Granted, we were on pins and needles all day yesterday, but we spent the day freely moving about instead of on the phone (on hold) with Disney. A much more civilized way to go.

THANK YOU TAMMY, DU, and PETE!!!!!

10:20 am and still waiting on a quote for a request made more than a week ago. I'm growing more frustrated and will be heartbroken if we missed the early booking rates because we choose to not make multiple bookings yesterday with other sources.

Trying to hold onto the "If it's meant to be" attitude,
Dawn

disneygal58 - I feel your pain!

I would think that it's safe to assume that if you didn't get your quote by now you can expect to pay significantly more than what people were posting yesterday. That was the reality for me.

Here's hoping you can get lucky like maddy!

If everybody knew they were going to call in to DCL today then WHY did they bother putting in a request with DU or any other agent?????

THAT is exactly what drove the price up so drastically!!! There are currently two rooms on hold for ALL of the people that did this. THAT is why I am getting a quote back from DU at 9:45 at night for $1000 more than the rooms started out at. That is REALLY *bleepy*!!!

I guess it is something stupid to get upset over, but it is hard to listen to everybody talk about the quote I got from here was different than the quote I got from here. Half the time you are getting MORE than a quote....you are holding a stateroom!!!

I am done....and probably by tomorrow morning I will not care, but with all the hype & stuff....and those of us who thought we were ahead of the game by putting in a request ahead of time with DU all end up getting the short end (or the expensive one!!) of the stick.

There is nothing at all unethical about getting multiple quotes for the same cruise. It is quite customary to seek quotes from two, three (or more) travel agencies. Go to Cruisemates.com where you'll see they have an area you can post the cruise you wish to sail and solicit multiple quotes from various travel agencies. In most all cases, each agency responding to your request must physically book a room in order to lock in the rate they're quoting you. If you don't respond by the deadline date, the room simply gets released back into inventory.

In my own case with the 5/14/05 FL to CA sailing, I took a vacation day just so that I could be on the phone at 1:00pm when reservations were opened. I hated to burn a vacation day, but am now glad I did. I was able to confirm my reservation before the price hikes went into effect. I finally got my DU quote at 11:00pm and it was $800 higher than what I had booked hours earlier directly w/Disney. This is not at all a slam against DU. Obviously there were just too many requests for the number of agents they have working on it. With Disney hiking the prices throughout the day, it was impossible for DU to get everyone confirmed before the rates were jacked up.

Beav....ditto.

DU messed up my reservation also, and luckily I had taken care of myself by a) calling Disney myself (2 hours) and have SMall World Travel get me a price also.

I did receive an email this morning from DU apologizing for the problem, however, on my last email to them, I had marked urgent with my confirmation number before the reservations were even opened up.

Luckily for me, I got in at the early bird price and saved $1,100 per cabin (as of last night on DCL website when I checked), if I had waited for DU I would not have gotten 4 staterooms together and I know my other family members would not have gone for the extra money since I told them about $1,500 each before taxes and stuff.

I think I will give SWT my business and see if they will give me any incentive to move my DCL reservation I made myself over to them (all 4 staterooms) so that they can get the commission.

When something happens like this I have learned that you never put all your eggs in one basket. Those that did......well they unfortunately may be welcoming us into California on May 28 instead of being on the ship.

Make sure to check the 5/14/05 official thread for the FL to CA cruise. Looking forward to meeting you on Disney's first 14 day cruise through the PC!

This comment ought to get some interesting responses!

For those waiting for Dreams Quotes--
Let me offer you this suggestion--

Sometimes these quotes are being delivered to a junk or bulk mail folder by your email provider and not getting to clients if you don't check that folder. (this is ESPECIALLY true if you have AOL.)

What I suggest you do if you have a quote request in with Dreams is to go to the client services page from the Dreams home page and enter your reservation number and the password you chose. You should be able to view any reservation details there.

I hope this helps some of you.

Everytime I try that, I get an error message.

Says: error occurred while processing request

Guess I'll give it a while and if I have not heard later today will try and send an e-mail with my request #

No doubt things have been incredibly hectic at DU!

Hi Everyone

First let me apologize if anyone who has sumbitted a cruise request prior to yesterday is still waiting on a quote from DU.

As of this morning we beleive all quotes have been sent out.

All of the DU agents spent many hours yesterday processing these requests, and then worked into the wee hours of the morning updating and getting out the quotes.

If you still have not recieved your quote please email me at john@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and I will gladly look into it for you. Please include your DU reservation ID as this will help expedite the process.

Thanks
John

Thanks John. I have not received my quote and I requested it a while ago. I received the generic "...we will get back to you in a few hours...", but nothing since. I've sent you an email with my I.D. #. My worry is that at this late date the staterooms seem to be overpriced now. Oh well, we'll see. One can always hope. I'm thinking just based on the boards here, that a lot of people were holding staterooms in duplicate waiting to hear back from several agencies. That may have had an impact. If we need to wait a while until those staterooms open back up, we'll do that. Anyway, thanks for looking into it.

I am still waiting for a quote as well. I am begining to worry a bunch, because the prices have been skyrocketing to the point where you could take two week long cruises on a different line, with the same ports of call. I am hoping this all works out, because this was a 2 year old and 12 year old's Bday present for next year. We would have been on the ship for both boths bdays.

Sigh, I hope you guys come through...but am regreting not taking care of it myself.

I find the eggs in one basket comment "interesting" .

If we had all put one egg in the basket there would have been about half as many rooms booked yesterday!! There is no room in the basket for my egg because SO manypeople have put in 2 , 3 or more requests for rooms.

I guess I am naive, one would think that people would realize that this is not like shopping for a regular cruise, where you might put out multiple requests & get the best price.

I REALLY feel bad for the TA's who worked their butts off for ALL of us yesterday & are going to have unhappy clients (like myself) because a large number of people probably had at least 2 maybe 3 or more of DCL's booking agents working on ONE person at a time, while hundreds of other people & agents waited & waited & waited, while the price went UP & UP & UP.

Now people are not going to give their business to DU, because they were the exact same people who were clogging up DCL's phone & reservation lines!!??!! How could you be satisfied by a travel agent when you are taking the same exact room that they are trying to get for you???

I guess I am just really missing something here?? Maybe I just don't think the way so many seem to??

Obviously that is a bad thing for me....good thing for everyone else!! Oh well. I'll still be seeing some of you on the CA to FL repo....I'm sure we will all have a great time....Heck....I have over a year to save up all this money anyway...right!!?!!

You guys might try your resservation number on DUs website.
You will need the ressie number and the password you gave them.
For some reason I never get a second email when the quote is complete. But I looked online this morning and sure enough they had my quote done.
Now, hubby always gets emails from them when things are ready, emails while they are working...emails, emails, etc. It must be me. Same thing happened a few months ago. Crazy!

Good Luck!

But I will admit - I am one of the guilty that had a request in with DU and also wound up calling on my own. Tuesday night when I came to realize how many requests DU had gotten - I decided that I would also try on my own. Thank god I did - because as of now I still dont have a quote from DU. If I had waited and had to book now thru DCL directly I would be paying $2200 more than what I was able to get myself and in all liklihood DH would have said its too expensive - and we wouldnt be going.

Instead of getting a major disappointment I was able to go home and surprise my kids with an awesome vacation and get the "MOM YOU ROCK" compliment from my 9 year old. That in itself is justification enough for me
.
I agree that all the hype we ourselves created drove the price high way too fast.
