Has anyone got their summer 2005 quote from DU yet???

markmyboy . . . I think I figured out the pricing difference. Are you using a 10% onboard discount?

If so, my pricing would be exactly the same in a cat 6.

I'm going for it.

Oh sorry SandraLee, we are on the CA to FL repo!! I guess the May repo is more expensive because it is the FIRST?? When I first saw the price spread on DCL's website, I thought for sure that the August cruise would be at the higher end. Goes to show what I know!!!

no...we didn't transfer our current booking to get the 10%....but we may not be able to take that cruise now (april 23, 2005) ....with this one costing $8000, once we add the insurance!!! Oh my....that is a LOT of money!!! I can't get over the number.

Yes, I am struggling with the amount, too.

And, the Westbound is definetly MUCH more than the Eastbound. I wonder why??

In a Cat 5 for 2 adults, 2 children age 9,6 the variance is nearly $1,100

Good luck with your decision.

Boy....I'm glad I called Disney direct and have rooms on hold...still haven't heard from DU. :(

If everybody knew they were going to call in to DCL today then WHY did they bother putting in a request with DU or any other agent?????

THAT is exactly what drove the price up so drastically!!! There are currently two rooms on hold for ALL of the people that did this. THAT is why I am getting a quote back from DU at 9:45 at night for $1000 more than the rooms started out at. That is REALLY *bleepy*!!!

I guess it is something stupid to get upset over, but it is hard to listen to everybody talk about the quote I got from here was different than the quote I got from here. Half the time you are getting MORE than a quote....you are holding a stateroom!!!

I am done....and probably by tomorrow morning I will not care, but with all the hype & stuff....and those of us who thought we were ahead of the game by putting in a request ahead of time with DU all end up getting the short end (or the expensive one!!) of the stick.

I wished I'd done that Jen. Don't know if I could've transferred my reservation back to DCL from DU and kept the onboard booking discount and credit, but I should have hedged my bets and booked something and worked on the logistics after. I'll be going to sleep a bit sad tonight, but there's a huge bright side. We'll still be going on a 7-day Eastern at a great price and if I'm not on the 14-day I may be able to afford a 5-night Homeschoolers cruise with Carnival in 04/05. Not my favorite line, but it's with a bunch of friends and they've lined up some great speakers and workshops on the cruise. Both those cruises together will end up being 1/2 of the 14-day and I'll have $ left over to get to WDW once or twice for a Disney fix to boot. Not a bad down side.

I was just hoping to hear from DU before I went to sleep. :(

Do you think part of that might be the weather?
May is typically quite a bit cooler than Aug.
Plus, isn't late Aug./early Sept. getting into hurricane season?

Just a guess

I got a quote from DU tonight but my stepdaughter had called Disney directly and got through in the first hour of sales. Although I haven't seen her e-mail confirmation, it would appear from what she said that she booked two category 11 staterooms for the Florida to California repositioning cruise for $2.200 less than the quote I got from DU tonight (4 adults 1 child). Although I am certainly glad we have the rooms at a lower price, it doesn't seem fair that the prices would go up the same day they are published.

Udate: - oops I goofed. The quote I got from DU was for 1 cat 6 and 1 cat 11 ---- not 2 cat 11s. (I had asked them to price both options). I think I'll go back to lurking now.

I guess you could say that I am caught up in the excitement of it all. When DCL or a travel agent books a room with a courtesy hold, as in when they are giving you a quote, do they actually count the room as "sold"? In other words by requesting 2 or 3 quotes I am actually driving up the price? I guess I don't understand how the whole reservation system works. I thought that agencies could just get a block of rooms so that if I decided I didn't want what I was quoted, it just got filled by someone else who was using the agency?

I am sorry if things I have done helped caused a price inflation. I have made several reservations with DU in the past. Three of them went as smooth as silk and the last one it took a week before I received my quote. They still generally have the lowest prices but it is the delay that kills me. I don't know if my email got lost in the system or if my server screwed up.

So since this was so important to me, I went ahead and requested with two places. Mouse Ear Vacations responded in less than 24 hours. I placed my request in with Dreams probably about 3 months ago when it was just an "inquiry" and I still haven't heard back so I like the security of knowing that I didn't lose out.

My quote of $4285 for cat 7 (the room used to be a six but is now reclassified as a 7) is for two adults and no children for the June 4th sailing.

Brenda, you have nothing to be sorry for...a lot of us got caught in the hype...these are special cruises with a lot of interest and demand.

I actually asked for quotes from All Seasons and DU. I still have not gotten any info from DU. All Seasons did call me about 11:00 am HST to say they got my 2 rooms...problem was that the rooms were not connecting....big problem with 3 young kids.

I was finally able to get back to my computer about 1:00 pm HST and still no reply from DU so I decided to call DCL myself to see if I could get 2 connecting rooms...which they did have and at the same price that All Seasons quoted me earlier so I put those on courtesy hold.

I did not intend to drive up the prices...my intent was to get my family 2 connecting rooms for our first ever Disney family cruise because I wasn't sure if DU would be able to do the same.

As I understand from reading this board many place rooms on hold with one company and then ask price quotes from others to get the best rate.

If I misunderstood, someone please correct me.

I'm still hoping that DU gets back to me as I've read nothing but great comments about them on this board. But if they don't, at least I know that I did what I had to do to get our family on our first Disney cruise.

I called DCL because I wanted to know what was going on. I need the price from DCL to know how much I'm saving when I get the quote from DU. By putting in a request with DU, doesn't mean I'll book with them.

I called All Seasons after I got in from work and checked the boards. I couldn't believe how many people hadn't heard from DU. Some people emailed their request 3 months ago. I made my request Tuesday evening. If DU fills the request in the order they were received(which I think they should), I may be out of luck.

I called All seasons and had a quote within an hour.

If/when I hear from DU, I'll go with the lower price.

All Seasons price was $257.00 less than DCL and they have a $100.00 ship board credit.

Hello,
It's after 6 am and I still haven't heard from DU - put my request in more than a week ago. I really didn't want to tie up multiple rooms by calling other reservation sources and I really hope that I haven't missed the boat, so to speak. I would imagine that in a few days time, alot of cabins will be released when people decide which quote to go with and relinquish some of their requests. It's just a shame that the discount will be gone as well.

Still hoping (and slightly frustrated),
Dawn Hope

Looks like the quote came in right after I turned off the computer!
Here is what we're looking at for 5/14 repositioning:

Cabin 1: Cat. 6 GTY for 2 adults/2 children: $8983

Cabin 2: Cat. 6 Assigned Stateroom 2 adults $$6261

The questions I'll have for DU are whether this is after my 10% on board booking was applied and if each cabin gets a DU Rebate.

This is $340 more for Cabin 1 and $90 more for Cabin 2 than the initial quote I got from the DCL site. DU must have gotten in just after the first price increase. If there is a rebate applied, the second cabin is cheaper and the first is just a bit more. Better than I thought we were going to make out.

Phew! Something to talk over with DH when he wakes up this am.

Nothing here! I am so frustrated!
I can't believe that DU hasn't posted something for those of us who are still waiting!!!!!

Nothing here either--what is really going to get me fuming is if my price is significantly higher than others. I asked for a cat. 9 w/ 2 adults and one 2 year old. We'll see...........I figured it to be under $4000 w/ early booking. I hope I didn't mess things up by NOT doing it myself yesterday at 1 pm.!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for some HUGE pixie dust!!

I received my quote sometime in the night.

Luckily I called myself and booked our 2 rooms. We were switching dates from a May 2005 to July 2005. Our May dates are with DU but now I think that I'm not going to switch the new booking over to them after they blew off my request for July California quote. Oh well, I guess it wasn't that impotant to them.
(I know they got my request because I did get an e-mail yesterday saying that it may take a few hours to get to all the requests but that's it.) I like having access to my booking on the DCL website anyway.

Just got mine after I sent an e-mail this morning. Guess I really messed up by using them.

2 adults, 2 kids cat 9
$6443.56 w/ no air,ins, trans

I thought people were getting this for under $5,000 yesterday!

I am really upset and learned a good lesson - not to put my eggs in one basket and look out for number 1!

I am still waiting for my quote. I asked for a cat. 6 and a cat. 11. I know they said to give them 24 hours, but others received their quotes within a few hours.

Still waiting for my DU quote too! I put it in on 4/28. They sent me an acknowledgement email, so I know they got it.
