DCL did make a lot of room changes during the restart, and that was probably still occurring last year for your TA cruise -- especially since it may have been the first (or one of the first) long cruises with some level of covid protocols still in place. I think deck 2 was often used for quarantine. I would not expect similar changes to occur now.
I kind of thought the room movement would be over for the Covid reasons. Although I think some of the movement that we had was due to training of Wish employees. Perhaps the isolation that they had to have prior to working back then. Several employees had told me that new people were on the ship and they were in isolation. Though this seems like a weird time to start that with the blackout dates during Very Merry. Our cruise was not offered 3 1/2 weeks prior to our sail date 12/18/2023.
Through other media, I found that the December 20-25 and December 25- 30 cruises had huge amounts of sick individuals. More sick individuals than on my 11 day transatlantic cruise. So for a five day cruise I was really shocked that many people could get sick in a short amount of time. This is Cruise number 10 for me, so I’m obviously not afraid to cruise. I don’t like people blowing things up out of proportion and calling cruises a petri dish. I didn’t feel appropriate, asking people their symptoms since I didn’t go on that cruise and I was just asking for details regarding their experience regarding itinerary and navigator questions.
I can’t exactly tell what these people were sick from. it seemed like it could be RSV, cold and flu, Covid-yes, or neurovirus(probably spelled wrong, ugh) Many of them explaining entire rooms came home sick or showed up sick 12 to 24 hours after they got home.
So I’m of the belief that the crew has had it now and we are all good. We take precautions and haven’t been sick after any cruise (knock on wood).
So anyway that was why I asked here to see if anyone was moved. Just checking the lay of the land. Since we are in a handicapped room this time, I know we won’t be moved.
It’s going to be a good trip.
