I know this is a long shot, but has anyone here ever gotten tix for Letterman and what was the "trivia question" you had to answer?
I applied for tix online and it said "A ticket will only be issued to those individuals who correctly answer a random trivia question about the show".
To tell you the truth, I don't know anything about the show because it is on too late and I get up at 3:30 am for work.
We are going to NY in August.
**** Can anyone GUESS what some trivia questions about the show might be and fill me in?
Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Can't help you out with the trivia questions, but if you are curious, I will tell you about the two times I visited the LNWDL. DH and I went about 9 years ago, and we had to write postcards requesting the tickets. Finally, we got some (2 only) and they chose the day, not you. We went, (per instructions) and stood in line outside the theatre at 10:00 to receive a numbered ticket at noon for return later in the day. At 4:00, we got in line according to the number, and waited til 5:00 to go in. Sat in the front row the first time. What a waste of time. After all that, and being coached and threatened about what to do and what NOT to do to make Dave look good, we sat there and watched it on monitors because as soon as he sat down at the desk, 4 cameras crowded around him about 4 feet away from him, and we couldn't see a thing. We didn't learn, because we did it again about a year later. We DID learn at that point, and didn't go again. Oh, and that creepy guy (AL?) with the red hair came out to the audience to flirt with me, I guess because I have red hair too. That was reason enough not to go back.:hyper:

It is, however, a great way to waste a day in one of the most interesting cities in the U.S.

Sounds sort of like the time we got stuck for 3 hours in the hot sun at Universal cause my son wanted to be on SlimeTime Live. They had the kids picked out way early in the morning. So my son never had a chance.

We sat from 2:00-5:00 in the hot Orlando sun in the bleachers and you really couldn't see anything cause of the camera's. I begged that they let us go, but the wanted the stands full for the 3 hour show. What a waste of precious time at Universal.

I haven't been to any Letterman tapings. I would love to, though, I watch him almost every night. When are they going to ask you the question, before you go, or that day? If its before, I could take a shot at the question.

We went to a taping of the Price is Right when we were in California years ago. It was great, the people in front of us that we chatted with a bit while in line won big - a boat, a trip to Hawaii and some other stuff. It was pretty fun to watch the whole production even though we didn't get a chance to "come on down!" :p

I went to a Letterman taping in 1994 and never had to answer any questions to receive my tickets. Even though you have a ticket you may not necessarily get into the show. They overbook seats so the audience is full. You must arrive EARLY. My boyfriend and I got there around 4 hours before showtime. We froze for four hours. Rupert came and brought everyone hot chocolate which was really nice :) We ended up with third row seats fortunately. We were on TV because they did a skit with people behind us. It was fun.

Ok I just did the same thing on line.

First they call you (if you are chosen from the dates you submitted) and ask if you are available to still attend the taping. Then they give you another phone number to call for the trivia question and they also get all your ID information.

The question is easy-- mine was name one of the things Dave had the intern Monty do, some people in line with us had different question asked.

The day of the taping we waited in line for almost 2 hours. Get in line early if you want a seat up front. They handed out the tickets by numbers--we were 6 and 7.

Then they told us to come back in about 1 hour and then we waited again for another hour or so.

It was a lot of fun watching how they do the show.

Oh and I have to add, like someone else posted--the cameras do get in the way, but lucky for us we had a little space between 2 of the cameras, so we could see straight thru to Dave's desk.

Our trivia question was: What is the name of Dave's announcer? This was in November. Good luck!:sunny:

Thanks so much to all of you. I'm not even sure I would want to go now after reading what it's like.
Oh well, I'll probably get the Trivia question wrong anyway. I'll keep you posted. :)
