Has anyone ever lied to get a king bed?

We are staying at ASMO in December and we're told that even though our 2 kids are little, we couldn't get a king bed. Our boys ar 6 and 2. It would not be possible for us to sleep comfortably in these beds. I was wondering if I called and said that just the 6 yr old would be staying with us, if we could then get the king bed. That way we could all sleep in the king bed comfortably. Has anyone done this? It's not like were taking something without paying for it, my 2 yr old wouldn't need an id for the resort anyway right? What does everyone think?

I'm pretty sure they won't give it to you no matter what you say. My understanding is the only way they'll book more than 2 people in a room is if the third person is an 'infant', and that they will under no circumstances book 4 in a room regardless of age. Although, now that I think about it, it WOULD be reasonable to book a couple with 1 year old twins in a king room. But that's another story. No, I don't think you can tell them anything that will make them give you a king room if you are traveling with a 6 year old.

I guess I'm confused. You actually want all four of you to sleep in one king bed? Why would you want to do that? Not flaming, I'm just befuddled.

I can understand why the OP would want a King Bed after having slept in the Value resort beds.....

However, I am not sure if there is a way around it. I would consider just getting the regular room and have each parent sleep with a kid if you are concerned about both adults fitting in the full beds.

Actually puffkin, upon consideration, you're right. I forgot about the double bed thing. On our most recent trip, we got a room at CS with two doubles. We spent an awful lot of time sleeping apart on that trip!

If the resort is not too crowded, they will accomodate or try.

Just ask, if not, separate with your spouse will bring you closer to your kids.

Seems to be 6 of one, half dozen of the other to me. I understand how small a double is for 2 people, but one of them IS a child. Compared to 2 adults and 2 kids in a king? I think I'd take the third choice...whatever that may be.

sleeping apart is not what bothers us, is that I am a bigger person and would not fit on one of the beds with one of the kids. And yes, a king size bed is very big and would be more comfortable than each of us trying to sleep with a child on those dinky beds! We have a king size bed at home and occasionally end up sharing it with the kids, so we know exactly what we're in for.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that a king size bed is the size of two twin beds. A double bed is larger than a twin, therefore two doubles would be bigger than one king.

The above poster is right - a king is only 2 twin beds so 2 doubles have more room.

You will not get a king room unless you say you are just 2 adults and 1 infant. This is a fire code violation to have more then that in the king room. Each resort is set up to hold a certain amount of people and they only count 2 for every king room.

Also, if you are that conerned about size, either get 2 doubles and put the 2yr old in a pack n play to sleep or book 2 value rooms - you are taking too slim of a chance of getting a king, even if you lied.

Aquagirl, you are right. A king is two twins, where a double is just a double, so two doubles is more space than one king.....

Disney is also pretty particular regarding who stays in your rooms. We are a family of five and can not stay at a value resort as the littlest is no longer in a crib. It's a law, per the fire marshall not disney. Again, for safety reasons.

Why would you hide a kid and try to lie and do you expect the housekeeping staff to also lie for you, because you have more kids in the room than you should?

No way to lie and get around it. If you try, you will only be able to get two room keys. One for each person that would need a park pass. Your child that is 2 wouldn't need one, so if you lied and didn't tell them about the 6 y/o, that child wouldn't have a key enabling him to get in for those EMHs.
I tried to get a king room at POR for myself, dh, and dd,11. We are all tall..dh is 6'4", I'm 5'8" and dd is 5'2". A king bed is longer. Besides it's a big treat when dd gets to sleep with us once and awhile. But, they wouldn't let us have one...2 people and an infant...that was it.

we'll just have to make do, I just don't understand their logic, any other hotel we've ever stayed at have stated that as long as there are no more than 4 people in the room, it doesn't matter if we have 2 doubles or 1 king, I don't understand what the difference is between the 2 if there's a fire. For the record, I never intended on lying about my 6 yr old because I know that he is a paying disney customer. Also, I wasn't trying to get anyone all fired up over this, i just honestly didn't see the big deal, it's not like I was sneaking a 5th person in the room or anything. Thanks for your input though.

Actually while the beds at values and the moderates are listed as a double or full size they are somewhat longer than the usual double/full. Kinda like the XL twins you have in college.

So Elizabeth what you are saying is that if a disney property burns down then disney is going to do their own investigation, the town and state fire marshalls woudn't get involved. There are state fire marshalls for a reason and if a hotel was on fire you want to know how many people you should be looking for in a room.

Elizabeth is correct. It's all operated by Disney.

I hear you on the space issue..another option would be rent DVC points about 88points for a week at the end of Novemver, at $10 a point that would be $880 at OKW for 2 Queen Size beds, and plenty of room for a pack and play too! Even less for a Sun-Thurs trip!!

However, DVC rooms in December will probably be at a premium now since it is past the 7 month period where any member can reserve at OKW. Dec is very popular with members and gets booked up fast.
