Has anyone ever had CM question child's age?

Why would it? That's not what you asked it for. If you want information about the pricing of tickets, you have to look for that information, not just plug what you want into the quote generator. If they put every piece of relevant information onto the quote generator page, then it would be impossible to use -- they'd basically be reproducing the entirety of the rest of the website on that one page, which would be absolutely unacceptable.

Here's why I don't feel bad about it:

CM asked where Sons ticket was, even went as far as quizzing DH about our Sons Year of Birth..
They let my DH threw, but boy were we shocked!

Now our son is a "big" boy, He is 4! and LOVES that he gets his own ticket. But yes, We were asked..

Well, I already have the PAP, and have to see about getting it upgraded to a 10+ on next trip, since he's had his birthday already. So it won't be an issue.

I was just curious if they would deny someone entry.

I can understand folks carrying the birth certificate, I just know I wouldn't.

Buying movie tickets a couple of weeks ago, they asked his age, I told them 10. Due to his size, I would have to carry his birth certificate almost everywhere to prove it. I refuse to do that. I just know, he gets frustrated being asked about his age and comments on his height, so it actually irks me when someone questions it, because it bothers him.

I understand folks try to cheat the system, I worked at Opryland Theme Park when it was still around, so I saw many of the "tricks" used.

Twice, DS 14 easily looks 18--when we checked in at POR last summer they wanted to charge us for the extra adult--I had his birth certificate--crisis averted. DD now 10, was just under 10 on our last trip and she was questioned by the waiter, not a big deal at all. He just wondered why she wanted to order off the "baby" menu at Prime Time. I have their birth certificates and I have always carried them with me when we travel.

Truth be told, you don't have to try to rationalize it to us. But, this statement isn't true. Once you knew that a 10 year old would have to pay a higher ticket, you did intentionally decide get around paying for it. Either it is a rule or it is not. So, you taught your children that if money is involved and you can't afford it, you can bypass the rules if they seem unimportant to you. I am not trying to be rude (always hard to tell a person's intent through writing), but it wasn't what you did that bothered as much as you trying to tell me that it was unintentional. Unintentional would have been never knowing that there was a price difference. Sorry, but I agree with Bicker that you have just tried to rationalize because you knew it was wrong.

we have been questioned many times about both our DS's ages - they are both very tall for their ages and when we first took the eldest at 2 1/2 he actually was taken for 5 / 6 and now at just 14 he is 6'4" tall (thats around 190cms). As we travel from the UK most times we have there passports and so it has not been a problem for us and we are really used to this now.

OK, I'm too lazy to go back and quote the poster about the 9-turned-10 DS. Forgive me. But I *think* you may be able to upgrade his admission from child to 10+ at Guest Relations in the theme park. This would involve a fee, but it would only affect him, not your entire family. You may even be able to do this at check-in at your Resort, but I'd be paranoid that the entire package would need to change to 2006 pricing levels for everyone. At a theme park Guest Relations, they may view DS's ticket as an individual entity. Anyone know for sure??? (You may want to post this as its own question elsewhere on this board -- surely someone else has had this experience?)

I can see where you are coming from. You had locked in the prices and just because DS's age changed, it is unfortunate that they want you to pay 2006 prices for the entire family. I hope there is a way to only "upgrade" your 10-yo to the 10+ admission (small cost here, way less than $300) and leave everyone else at the '05 price level. Good luck!

For those who were asking about APs, this is what I was told when I called WDW to ask how it works.

DS9 has an 8 day MYW child's ticket as part of our August package. We want to upgrade to APs when we arrive. I told the CM he will be 10 when we go back in December, so I didn't know if it would be easier to get an Adult AP for DS to begin with.

CM said if DS is 9 at the time the AP is activated then it is valid for one year, even if DS turns 10 within that year. Next year he will have to renew with an Adult AP. You do not have to go have it changed.

I got in for free until I was five or six. I was very small and still am and my mom would have my dad carry me and I sucked my thumb anyway, so I looked three, if not younger. And my mom had to tell me to be quiet, because I was quite a chatty and smart kid. I was just a kid, so I was just doing what my parents were telling me to. No one ever questioned my age. I know I definately had a pass when I was seven because that's when we got our first AP's. I may not have ever had a ticket before that. I'm 20 now and I have an AP and have done so for many, many years. Everyone thinks I'm 12 but at this age I want to shout it from the rooftops: I'm 20!! Please believe me!!

I'm glad to hear that that's the rule of thumb for APs. It makes good sense to me.

I hope no one asks my son his age, because he answers that question with any random number these days, just because he finds it hilarious He'll just give a random number, then laugh and laugh. I have no idea why he thinks that's so funny!

my son was 10 when we went so I bought him an adult ticket. Well he's pretty short (only 4" taller than my 7 yr old - and well I'm only 4'11"). The CM at the entrance would help him with his ticket and glance down at it...seeing it was an adult ticket...they would look at him and ask "How old are you???" He'd answer "10". I had a few actually tell me they would have got him a child's ticket!

I better get a copy of my dd's birth certificate. She just turned 2 in December but if you ask her how old she is, she says 4 (and holds up 4 fingers). We will be going to WDW 3 weeks before her 3rd birthday -- I would imagine by then she'll be saying she's 5.

I had a CM ask me about DD at the gate for MNSSHP. I told him she was 3 and we had a ticket. He thanked me for being honest. I think that says a lot right there.

Yes! My neice will be 3 in July and on our December trip she was asked quite a few times despite being tiny. They would engage her in a fun conversation, "hey princess are you having a good time, how old are you sweetie?" They were polite and kind but always asker her, not my sil or bil.

On the way into AK my 3yo nephew, who is also tiny, was riding in the 2yo's stroller and they keyed right in on him and asked him right out for his ticket. I guess because he was in the stroller and my sil was carrying my neice, my bil just put both tickets through and used the stroller entrance.

IMHO its best to bring proof, why worry? Just make a photo copy of the BC or passport if your worried about loss or theft.

Honestly, I don't mind having to prove I am eligible for someting, ymmv.

I worried about this last trip. DS was 9 but is as tall and big as a 12 or 13 year old. They never asked. I thought about bringing the birth certificate, but didn't and never will.

I'm curious would they NOT take someone's word for it and deny admission for not believing you?

I asked the same Q as the OP not too long ago. My post was in response to a few threads (and several posts on those threads) that suggested NOT SO LEGITIMATE ways to break the rules and pull the wool over Disney's eyes. It made me concerned that if companies (be it Disney, Universal, the airlines, etc) were used to people doing trying to scam that they may be more inclined to question a child that looked big for his age. I can understand that it is hard to take all people at their word when experience has shown that a few bad apples will try to break the rules.

Well I received some nasty responses (how dare I insinuate that people would be dishonest despite several admissions to this effect) but I also received some responses that made me decide that I WON'T go WITHOUT DS's birth certificate. I'm paying half price for DS's plane tix because he's a few days shy of his 2nd b-day when we go (infant in a seat its considered). I don't want to be forced to pay full price and try to get reimbursed later upon proving DS's age. (I received a response post from a diser who saw this happen to a woman on a plane trying to pass her 4 year old off as <2). The birth certificate takes up very little space and is well worth the peace of mind IMHO. Plus its a whole lot easier IF someone inquires to pull it out and hopefully receive a humble apology or a thank you (depending on the circumstances) than to not have it and be looked upon with scepticism.

When I changed the dates with my TA, I just said "please change our travel dates from 10/29-11/3 to 5/6-5/13". What did I do wrong??????????? What deception are you speaking of?

Now this I would absolutely 100% be willing to do without question. Thank you for understanding what I was trying to say. I will try to find out if I can do this at our hotel upon check in.

Sorry, I have to agree with bicker. Once you found out about the rate change, you were choosing to deceive. If you know when you are handing the CM your child's ticket that he isn't eligible for a child's ticket, how is not deception? You asked what you did wrong. Well, you chose to stay quiet about your child's real age and say that your child was still 9. How is this not deception?
