We are going with our best friends and their daughter is celebrating her birthday while we are there. We are doing a princess dinner at ariels grotto for her on that day and they said they don't do cakes. thought about having disney dining make one and have a little party in the room.
has anyone had one made before?
thanks

Yes they do do cakes there. I call the DLH and they connected me to Dinning something. I told them that I needed the top of the wedding cake made for our ann. They directed me to a web page and I picked out what we wanted. It was beautiful. Every year for our ann we have the top of a cake made for us.

We had my daughter's birthday at Storyteller's Cafe at Grand California Hotel and they had the cake there ready for us. It was a very nice cake. Poor girl didn't want anybody to touch it. She was devastated when we cut it. I also went throgh Disney Dining.

We are going next February and it is right after my daughter's 16th birthday. I know dh wants to throw her a big sweet 16 but frankly I am not in the mood to deal with a bunch of rowdy teenagers so I suggested we celebrate on the trip. We are going to San Diego and DL for a week. What would you guys suggest for a "teen". I think the happiest birthdays is way too young as we did that for my 7 year old this past December.

Any ideas on what restaurants would be the most fun and that I could order a cake for?

We just celebrated DD's 18th at DLR last week. Lunch at Catal included her favorite dessert, creme brulee, which I had pre-ordered and they presented it with a lighted candle. They don't sing there but the presentation was very nice. Dinner at Storyteller's surprised her with a Sorcerer Mickey birthday bucket which included a small cake, Sorcerer Mickey plush with Happy Birthday embroidered on his boot, Sorcerer Mickey Happy Birthday pin and some stickers. A little juvenile but she is a major Sorcerer Mickey fan and has always admired/envied the birthday bucket. The wait staff sang to her with a "Zippity Doo Dah" birthday song. She was a little embarrassed but will always remember her 18th BD :wizard:

That's cool! :thumbsup2

How big was the "small cake"? Was it big enough to share?

Thanks! :)

Individual sized...it sits at the opening of the bucket. She really preferred the desserts at the buffet over the cake - it was very creamy and had a berry sauce in the middle. It had a cute Mickey frosting.

Mmmmm, sounds good.

***But I promised DH no more cake-tastrophies after a $55 anniversary cake at WDW that didn't turn out like I asked. :headache: He's tired of hearing how I ordered buttercream and they gave us ganache, how dry the cake was, how I asked for pink and white flowers (to match our wedding colors) and I got red, and how the stand-up decoration of Cinderella and Prince Charming wasn't worth the money because they could have given us the real Cinderella and Charming wedding topper for an extra $5, and not some "edible image" pasted onto a slab of white chocolate! I was really disappointed with it. :sad2:***

Anyways... the CM I talked to when I booked my Goofy's Kitchen told me that she'd send a note for a complimentary cupcake when I ordered a Goofy's Kitchen Birthday Bag.
