seen any animals?
I don't know why I'm worried about this, but if we spend the $$$ for a Savannah view and don't see any animals DH will be none to happy.:(
He loves the CR Tower and the GF, and has no trouble with the price of the room there, cause we have a view of the castle,monerail,etc.. so he feels the price is justified.
Is there a chance that we could book a Savannah view and see nothing but ,say maybe , birds or something??
I'm the one that's talked him into AKL, so I wanna make sure it's the right choice.:D

We had a problem with our savannah view during our stay at AKL. It definitely was a hottub view but since you could see animals if you craned your neck from the corner of our balcony, they called it a savahhah view. We were very unhappy since we clearly had a hottub view so we requested a room change from the front desk. We have never complained about a room before and I want to emphasize that we were very polite while making our request. The CM who we talked to was actually arguing with us about the view. She was very uncooperative and not at all what you would expect from Disney. Ultimately, she did change our room (with an unbelievable attitude) but she put us by the people pen. It was not the greatest of the savannah views, but at least it was truly a view of the savannah. Despite all of this, it was a nice place to stay. The vast majority of the CM's were very friendly and the food is fabulous.

Bottom line, if you are unhappy with your view make sure that you request a room change.

Every time we stayed in a Savannah room we always saw animals and lots of them and of all different!! You will have a blast!

This worked great for me. We asked for a great Sav view and had it booked. Everyone wants close to the main area and the elevators. We ask for best view, which I am told by CM's is way down at the end of each wing where no one wants. Yes it is a hike, but we really felt like we were alone on the sav during those quiet night and early morning views with no PEOPLE in site. The animals like it there because it is private. Close to the main is where the viewing pits are and you did not come to see people. Yes it is a hike from the main, but well worth it. Be sure to fax to RM. You are going to love AKL!

FeeFeeWhite- do you remember what floor you were on, or your specific room number? What are the people pen rooms to avoid?

We were very lucky with our room (4th floor, Zebra Trail overlooking Arusha Rock Savannah). I would suggest requesting Arusha Rock Savannah. There are always animals there. And as crs says, if you are unhappy, have them change it. I don't see that being a problem!!

We were about 3/4 of the way to the end overlooking Arusha Rock on the Zebra trail in Dec' 02. We didn't even mind the walk because there are windows where you can see the animals along the way. It was a Deluxe savannah room. We saw a variety of animals everytime we looked out the window at all hours of the day and night even in the pouring rain. It was really neat. There was a small clump of trees close to our windows where 2 of the big cowlike critters slept at night. There was also a water hole close to us and it was really neat to watch how the giraffes drink. If you don't get a good view ask to be changed. You will have a great time & it is well worth the extra money. We are going again in Dec '03 and after much discussion about the convenience of the MK and Epcot resorts my husband and I decided on an AKL savannah view room because of the atmosphere and the animals.

What is the difference between a deluxe savannah and regular savannah? Is it better to be on 2nd floor, I think I've read that you feel closer to the animals?

Thanks everybody for your replies:D
I'm so excited about staying here for the first time.
I really don't think I would mind being a little ways from the main building, now that DS is old enough to not have to be carried back to the room after returning from the parks. There was a time I would have just assumed slept in the lobby then have to carry him one more inch, he is sooo heavy!

Deluxe Savannah Views rooms are on the top floor and are a little bigger than regular Savannah view rooms. These also can sleep 5 people, though not all of them do. The fabrics on the beds and drapes is different as well. We loved our 5th floor deluxe room and has an expansive view with loads of animals.

Great question.

I just chg'd. my ressies to split between Poly/Conceirge and AKL/Savannah view. We stayed at AKL last May and had a standard view. We were upgraded to a pool view which did have a view of the animals but not as much as I hoped. We took our chances at the time with Std. view. This time my daughter wants to see many animals and has requested we do a SV. It never entered my mind, silly me, that there would be a possiblity we would not see many animals or seeing people instead.

I'd appreciate any help in determining which area is better or what room is better to possibly request.

Thanks. 46 more days to go!

We have stayed Zebra trail each of our previous trips to AKL and are planning to request Zebra Trail on or trip week after next. Most people feel the lower the better for viewing. I think they are right when there are lots of leaves on the trees. We have always stayed on second floor (lowest floor with rooms).

The animals go indoors in the afternoons. They're usually out mornings and evenings.

At one point last year I was visiting AKL while they were refurbishing the Arusha savannah and there were no animals and orange barrier tape up everywhere. I would hope they didn't put anybody in those rooms during the refurbishment, since there are so many other savannah view rooms.

Does any one have the fax number?? or should I call? How far ahead of time?

Thank you!!

Hey this happened to us too! My 2 cents can be found in my review of our AKL Savannah view room.

My review of our AKL Savannah view room - from my Sept 2002 TR

I think I pretty much sum it in there! Enjoy!
