Has anyone dumped cable for something else?

We have Direct TV. I love it with all of my heart! I wouldn't go back to cable!!

We have Dish Network- cable isn't even available out here. We really like Dish.

We just dumped DirecTV because they would increase our rates but decrease our channels... jumped $30.00 in less than 6 months...
We switched to ATT U-verse and love it.. 200 + channels.... (don't even know what half of them are..) We are still adjusting to the change in channel numbers so we keep the handy dandy guide by the couch! We are able to record with our DVR.. which is really nice..plus they bundled and increased our speed for internet.. all for less than what we paid for the land line & satellite.... our land line we dropped to next to nothing..but I won't give it up because of the kids being in school.... they have my cell I know...but not always do I hear my cell ring..

We have the same as Nancy. ATT U-verse. We have had it for about 4 months and haven't had any problems with it. Love the dvr's.

We have the exact opposite of everyone here.. haha. We have an antenna. We get about 20 channels.. but it works for us.

We have Direct-TV. But that is because DH loves all the full-time High Def channels. If a station has the option, so do we and that is the one we watch.

Satellite does get freaky during heavy rain/clouds and even snow. However, as soon as the weather clears, so does the reception. With cable, it would rain and we would lose reception for days. Living in the middle of nowhere does that.

If you go Direct, let me know. All those Benjamin we could be getting. My kiddos can't stand those commercials.

We spent the whole darn day going round and round on this issue with various providers and each other and ended up right where we started. It doesn't seem to matter WHAT we do, if we want what we have, or the equivelent, we're not able to reduce our bill more than 10% - which is NOT worth the hassle.

We got tired of our constanly rising cable bill and we switched to Dish Network a couple of years ago. I dont like that it goes out sometime when there is a storm coming but I do like the bill ALOT better. It is worth the couple times a year it goes out..

Well, the update is - he bought a new flat tv and upgraded the cable to digital and hidef or some such thing for $2. more. I would cancel tv in a heart beat, but the man loves his sports. Fios and Uvers isn't available here yet. THANKS for all the input.

Got rid of cable about 8 years ago, service was horrible (they shut me off by mistake three times) I have had the dish network since and am extremely happy. Great service at a lower price.

We just ditched our cable and went with ATT U-verse, so far we love it! I hated our cable company.

We only have the option of Time Warner Cable or Directv here. Dish can't get signal where we live (something about the tree lines blocking the signal).

We had TWC for a while and HATED it! We have Directv and will stick with that.
