Has anyone done Tiana’s desert cruise?

I understand the riverboat is currently undergoing refurbishment and is not currently offering the ice cream social but I am looking for something fun to book for our October trip. Assuming they still offer the event when the boat is back up and running: Has anyone done the ice cream social and cruise? How crowded is the event? Can you see enough of the parade to make it worthwhile? Would we get the same basic experience getting ice cream from the ice cream shop on Main Street and sitting on the curb waiting for the parade? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Don't do it for the parade view--because it doesn't have a good one. If your little wants to meet Tiana & Prince and eat some snacks then it could be a fun time. Reviews haven't been good, so we'll see if it ever comes back.
