Has anyone done the ship's Island Tour in St. Thomas?

On the DCL Website it is called ST71 The Ultimate Island Tour: Skyline drive to Mountain Top, 2 hours at Maegan's Bay, then stop for shopping in Charlotte Amalie. The 4 hour tour starts at 8:30am and ends at 12:30.

I'm wondering how much time we will actually get to shop and explore the sights downtown? Maybe a lot is closed due to hurricane damage and we couldn't walk up the 99 steps anyways so we don't need to seek that out during our time downtown? I'm also wondering if the stop at Mountain Top will be long enough to buy a world famous banana drink (which would probably need to be consumed before we get back in the van/taxi, right?)

I'm considering just doing these things on our own so we aren't rushed, but maybe I'm worried for nothing and the DCL tour would be fine. Looking for others who took this tour. I called DCL and asked but they didn't know any specifics.

We did the Island tour in August. You have some time prior to the start of the tour and at the end. During the tour we made a short stop at a gelato shop. That was the highlight of the tour for my daughter due to the shop having free Wifi! It was worth it and the tour guide was very informative. He pointed out homes owned by Mick Jagger, President Trump, etc. We did this tour five days before the hurricane hit so I don't know what effect it had on the tour.
