I first heard of this on "A Baby Story" a few years ago, and I found a company that I am going to order a kit from- here's a link to their gallery.

I think this is such a CUTE idea! I can't wait to be pregnant and have a big enough belly to do it! :woohoo:

Has anyone else done a belly cast? Have pics you can post?

Let's see those bellies! :goodvibes

Lol...I read the headline and I was trying to figure out what you could injure while you were pregnant that you would need a cast for :rotfl:

Hey- knowing me, I could pull it off. :rotfl2:

That is just bizarre, IMO. I can't imagine what you would do with it? I guess it just wouldn't go with any theme in my decor...

I guess you could turn it upside down and use it as a basket, LOL

Did you look through the gallery- people decorate/use them in all sorts of ways (including as a bowl for potpourri- to each her own, I guess!).

I want to hang ours on the wall in the nursery, when we have a nursery- that is...

I've seen these and think they're just weird. Seriously, what will you do with it? Put it on top of your tv or display it in a china cabinet? It's not like it's a small momento. I suppose you could hang it on your wall, kinda like a hidden Mickey! Do belly pictures instead!

Mine would be so large it would pull the drywall off of the wall if you ever tried to hang it!

My kids were in a nursery for a very short period of time (in the scheme of things)...after that, it would end up in the attic along with the thousand other items I couldn't bring myself to toss inthe garbage, LOL.

Different strokes for different folks...

Yeah- I'm sure that's eventually what will happen to ours- in storage somewhere.

My in-laws will freak out when they see it. They'll think it's bizzarre too! :lmao: Ah, well, what can you do?

I kinda like the ones that were bronzed. Some people had some funny ones though! I like the ones that were more artistic- whoever did the Monet themed belly did a great job!

Looking through the gallery reminded me of my first pregnancy.

I was 8 months pregnant and my DH was in a playful mood one morning and decided to draw a huge red smiley (and a few not so innocent phrases/ arrows pointing downward, etc) on my big ole belly with a red sharpie marker. Unfortunately, I just happened to unexpectedly go into labor that evening, 3 weeks early. (I was told at my doctors appt, the day before, that I would be on time or even late...so much for professional opinion)

it was sort of embarrassing explaining the 'joke' every time a nurse or doctor came in the hospital room to check my fetal monitors, progress, etc. They thought it was hilarious..

I did too!!! Glad I wasn't drinking when I read that!!! That is SO funny!

Sounds like something my dh would do! :rotfl: Gotta love 'em!

What was even more funny (in his opinion) was the result of his artwork after my DD was born and my belly shrunk into a bunch of loose flabby skin...talk about distortion...now THAT looked really funny.

So the smilie looked more like :worried:

A friend of mine did this with a homemade kit. She let her older children paint it and then hung it up in her bedroom.

Now, it looked quite weird in my opinion, but I am sure for her it held tons of memories.

I kinda wished I did it too because of the memories it would hold, but after awhile I don't think I would have wanted a reminder that my stomach was still that same size :earboy2:

Yep I did one with my youngest. It now hangs in my office - but I have a pregnancy & newborn themed office because of my doula job...so it fits right in. :)

:rotfl: You just reminded me of a concert we went to a few years back. It was an all women's concert and one of the organizers was pregnant. Her 'belly' was on top of the baby grand during the concert. It was VERY odd looking up there. Now it hangs on the wall in her house and is painted.

I have my stomach painted with henna at the end of each pregnancy with a blooming lotus to symbolize the process of the opening of the cervix. My midwife swears it's why I have such easy labors :teeth:

It also looks a lot less awful than my ultra-white flab hanging out all over the place in the delivery room and the nurses just love it.

Thanks a lot, Tressa. You just made me spit coffee all over my computer :rotfl2:

Well, I thought I'd heard everything, but this just proves how wrong I was! :rotfl2:
