Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I considered ordering inkjet printable temporary tattoo paper to make some for my husband's band, but haven't ordered yet. I couldn't find any of the paper locally.

I did play around with images that he liked, shrunk them and printed them out on regular paper to see how they fit on the band.

That's a good idea! If I go the custom route, I know I need to order paper asap since we leave in 19 days. But I want to take my time.. I'm an impatient perfectionist. It's a bad combination lol. I just hope I can get mine to look half as decent as the gorgeous ones everyone is posting! I wish I was that crafty! :)

I,too, painted acrylic paint directly to MB. I looked and looked at posts trying to see if it was necessary to base coat first. Great synopsis, eiramenna! That will be helpful for folks as they join in on the fun. I think I will try one more layer of base coat just in case. Look forward to sharing photos very soon!

Finally done for our upcoming trip. Not overly pleased with my hubby's. First attempt with temp tattoos and I don't like the way they turned out. Will probably redo.

We are two months out from our trip and starting to plan our MBs! We are planning on using acrylics with a spray acrylic sealer. It looks like people have been having pretty good luck with a couple coats of the sealer, and its easier to work with. We are looking at Incredibles and Princess themes, I will make sure to post pictures when we finally get our bands! :yay:

Hi we just got back wanted to give feedback on our bands. All the bands turned out great. Our bands did glow in the dark the whole trip. The glow in the dark mod podge was amazing

Where did you find the glow in the dark mod podge?

Yeah, when he told me those were his favorite characters in the movie, I wanted to slap him through my phone lol. But he doesn't know why I asked. I have everyone's MBs for our trip in 3 weeks and was going to surprise everyone with a decorated band of their favorite characters. My moms is tinkerbell and I ordered her a yellow band before I found this thread, so I'm worried how that will turn out. I ordered pink for myself and my daughter, and I was going to make hers Minnie mouse.. but I really just set myself up for failure lol. I will definitely keep the MU tattoos in mind though..thanks! :)

I would think a grey band would be great to do a yellow stripes on- then label with a black nail art pen for the "CDA" portion.

He got a blue magic band.. not much help. I pretty much failed at everyone's color choices lol.

Just wanted to shout out to a Razorback fan...we live right in the thick of Hog Country, LOL!!

Snow White is my fave, so I love that band, and I really like your lantern band too!!

We're going to be taking our first family trip to WDW in November. I had hoped to be able to decorate our magic bands, but I'm wondering if we'll have enough time. We're staying on property, but at Shades of Green, so no magic bands in the mail for us. I had planned on going to Downtown Disney the day we arrive and purchase the bands, but probably won't have time to get started painting/adhearing tattoos until we get the kids down (and there's no guarantee that will happen :crazy2:)

What is the minimum dry time you guys would recommend for the layers? I'll probably be using a clear base coat, acrylic paint, the removable tattoo, and maybe a glittery topcoat with another clear coat or two on top.

I had hoped to get a band or two to practice on, but can't bring myself to pay as much/more for a practice one than I will for the ones we will use!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

You can get some gray acrylic paint and paint over the blue. I had a blue mb that I was going to do the frozen tattoos on and the characters didn't show up good so I painted the band all white. I got my acrylic paint at Walmart for .50. Picture of my band is on page 132 or 133

I will think about it, thanks! :) my only issue is that he specifically picked out the color (I let everyone choose their own, of course.)

If I may suggest using maybe duct tape instead of painting them it would be quicker and less frustrating. Or just use glittery polish over the whole band for simplicity. It took me longer then I expected to paint my designs and get a feel for how the polish would work/spread on the band, plus time to remove any polish not wanted on the band then reapply the art work of choice. I'm still working on my bands 3 days later (but I am a perfectionist).

My first coat of base didn't take much time to dry maybe 1/2-1hr. I used nail polish to paint w/ not acrylics so can't help you w/ that curing time.

I know they recently announced you can buy magic bands without having to immediately link them. Is it possible to order online and get them linked once you arrive? I didn't pay attention if you could buy ahead of time but I wouldn't see why not since they adjusted the rules.

I don't believe that they are selling them online, yet. I did ask around if any friends were going that could purchase them ahead of time, but alas, no one had trips planned.

I did take a look at the duck tape today and I may give that a go on a couple of the bands just for simplicity, but I really want to give my DD a Frozen themed band. She will flip out!

I believe there is Frozen duck tape now!

What about some sort of vinyl sticker or something? It might be a bit much to work on the bands in just a couple of hours. I haven't tried the tattoos, so I'm not sure how long they would take. I painted mine with acrylics and they took a good while, but I work pretty slowly. :)
