Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Anyone that used duck tape, I am assuming no issues with he scanners going through it? I am planning on doing duck tape on all 7 of ours, and DH is nervous that the scanner won't go through the duck tape.

Duck tape is just cloth with adhesive and some kind of poly coating, so even if it is over the mickey head it wouldn't (shouldn't) be a problem.

The only things that I can think of that would block the rfid would be metal and tyvek (the house wrap stuff that they make protective sleeves for credit cards rfid reader blocking). I am guessing that some people have had issues with rhinestones on the mickey head because their stones were metal backed, since other people have had no problems with stones glued there.

I see several people with rhinestones glued directly on the Mickey head with no problem using them. I think it's just some bands are defective, lol.

I had a Mickey head stone over my Mickey head last week and it worked fine so I would think the duck tape would work also.

Just got back from 6 days at the parks with lots of rain, swimming and such. The band held up GREAT! No cracking at all and only peeled in one place where I accidentally got sealer on the side. I used folk art brand outdoor acrylic paints from Michaels and sealed with Americana DuraClear Satin Varnish from Michaels (found in the aisle with the acrylic paints). I got tons of compliments on my band from cast members. :goodvibes

Awesome,
Did you post pics of your bands? I'd like to see what the satin varnish looked like. Also, did you paint the band while closed to help with the cracking or does that not matter with the varnish?

This is my band post-vacation. The satin varnish has a little bit of sheen but is not really glossy. I painted it non clasped but still curved (in its natural state, lol). This particular varnish is more prone to peeling than cracking, so you'll have to pick your poison.

Has anyone tried hotfix jewels? I know they wouldn't move but I'm are you wouldn't be able to redo the band later.

I wonder if the heat would melt the band at all? I've used hotfix jewels on clothes and bags and they do stay put but seeing as the bands are a plasticky rubbery kinda material I'm not sure if it'd work. I do have some hotfix crystals though so maybe I'll try it on my old band and see what happens.

That's what I was saying in sure it would melt it a little bit so you wouldn't be able to redo it or anything

Omg so I've read like almost 60+ pages of the thread!! This is the best idea ever so excited!! I really want to do a pascal rapunzel bracelet since he's my fave, but having a hard time finding tattoos of him!

Has anyone tried using stickers and painting over with the base coat nail polish? Or using printed out images cut out with the base coat over them? If you guys get some on the sides, how do you clean it off, with like a qtip and polish remover? Luckily I have two bands from previous trips to kind of play with before I get down to doing my daughters!

One last question about the rhinestones... I got the craft ones and water resistant super glue. Is that all people used? Metal ones are fine over the mickey parts right? Did anyone do polish over the rhinestones to give them some more staying power?!

I'm super excited, thank you to everyone who posted their amazing and creative bands! So many great ideas

As someone whose craft abilities do not include painting/drawing, I have a great appreciation for those who ARE talented...your band is beautiful and certainly captures the spirit of Maleficent!

Everyone on here who has done stones over or around their Mickey said their bands work fine when they are in the park despite others saying they may not. I've made a decision to outline my Mickey head in Tiny little rhinestones so we will see how it goes. As far as stickers, someone who used them said they did not last very well

Omg! This is the exact gold I want. It matches my ears in My avatar pic that I'll be wearing in the park! What did you use?

I used the Disney nail polish Tinkerbell's fantasy in flight with the color being called Spiteuful about 3 coats! Then I finished with Sally Hansen top coat!
