Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I'm impressed with all the designs here. Not being artistic, I'm going with the DVC cover bands, and I'm worried that I won't even be able to put that on straight! :rotfl2:

HockeyMomNH, add me to the list of people who think you should go into business. You work is spectacular!

Thanks guys. I think Crush might be my favorite one so far too. My DH, the wise guy, just took this picture. He says he's ready to go to WDW now. :lmao: http://s666.photobucket.com/user/lynnparkhurst/media/magicbands_zps7d9b1061.jpg.html This is all the bands I have ever painted except for Rafiki, which is hiding in my DS's room somewhere.;)

Wow. I am very impressed. I had every intention of doing mine but now that they have arrived, I have chickened out. Do you want to do mine? I live in Massachusetts and don't think I live too far from you...lol. Seriously, great job!

Customizing ours for our trip this weekend.

For doing nail polish to paint the band a different color, and temporary tattoos..any special advise aside from a few layers of base coat overtop everything to seal it in?

Obviously base coat just cracks. So do the mixtures of base coat/top coat work good, or should I just try to find plain base coat? I took a look at Target but couldn't find just any plain base coat by itself, plenty of top coats and mixtures.

Also for those using glow in the dark fingernail polish. Are you putting that on then the base coat, or base then glow?

Last question...spray paint base coat. I don't think it will work the same as fingernail base coat, but not 100% sure and couldn't find anything online. Does anyone know if spray paint base coat would work just as good?

Such a beautiful site! The Rafiki was awesome as well!! ::yes::

You are amazing at this, I can't wait to get my bands to play!!

Castle is my fave! So far....

Below is my latest and honestly was the most difficult. My son loves Star Wars and designed his own logo band and said "Dad, make it happen". I thought making stuff beautiful was hard, making stuff look rusted and battle worn is tough, but he likes it and that's all that matters.

My set for this trip, fabric covers in back, paint in the front.

HockeyMomNH, unreal detail, do you use magnifying glass? And your hands must be so steady, insanely beautiful. Now no more bands? (fabric,fabric,fabric....)

Those are amazing! I'm by no means an artist, I can barely draw a stick figure, but I do appreciate fine art...and that is exactly what you've created! Job well done! I love the rose from Belle band! So pretty! My DD will be turning 10 during our visit, and she loves My Little Pony. I'm thinking of crystaling her band in fashion of her fav MLP.
I know you've been asked probably a hundred times, but what sort of paint did you use on your bands?

I love the new one. It looks terrific! I would love to try to do a steampunk inspired band at some point.

I don't drink coffee before I paint! ;)

I use a combo of acrylic paint and nail polish. I posted a page or two back in more detail. Glitter nail polish or glitter acrylic both work well.

Looking to start buying the stuff I need to decorate my Bands in August, looking at base coats they all seem to have a slightly pinky color, is this what you used? or did you use a clear one? if you did can someone send me a link to buy online, ebay would be good due to being from the UK.

I used Essie basecoat and its very clear and not pinky at all. That was my concern too, so I was happy to find the Essie one :) I bought it on Amazon.

A lot of the base coats I saw were kind of white, not really clear. I opened one and it went on my nail clear even though it looked milky in the bottle. I bought it and it covered my paint with a nice clear layer.

If we are going to use vinyl stickers would you do a base coat and top coats or just leave the outdoor vinyl as is? Thanks

for those that used flesh or white nail polish under the tattoos did you do base coat, flesh/white, tattoo's, then base again? Also how many layers of base coat? Or is an acrylic sealer better? Our MB's are shipping this week so I am excited to get started!! :cool1:

If I'm applying temporary tattoos with no under color, should I use a base coat?
I'm assuming top coat is necessary to keep it from rubbing off.
Would an scroll sealer spray be better than a brush on? I'm wondering if brushing it on would smudge.

I am looking for a faded-in sort of look.. which is why no white undercoat.

Planning on adding blue Stitch tattoos to a green band for my 2yo who probably won't even wear it, lol.

For those that outlined the Mickey head, how do you do it in the crevice without glopping paint all over the place?

Does base/top coat logic still apply here? If so, same question above.

At least one band the outline nay be the sole adornment, so base/top on the whole band seems excessive.

I used a base coat of quick dry clear nail polish and then a top coat of the same after i applied the tattoos. It seemed to work well for me.

If it goes weird somehow, does polish remover damage the original band surface?

I tried putting a base coat and tattoos on my band yesterday. The color of the band itself still came through and the tattoos were not very vibrant in color. I had to scrub using nail polish remover to get them off. It did take the original sheen and finish off the band, but not the color. Frustrating.
