Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

My husband also decorated his band. He used some of the scrapbooking stickers I had in my Disney stash. He used a small picture of Jafar's head (but trimmed it to get rid of the white border around it). He has covered the stickers with a clear base coat and will probably add a few more coats.

Has anyone thought about and/or tried painting their band with Acrylic paint and then sealing that with acrylic sealer? I am in art school and Acrylic is much more flexible than nail polish and it doesn't really crack. I saw someone on Etsy selling custom painted bands this way and I just wanted to see if anyone else had tried it?

I used acrylic on mine. Then put a clear top coat of nail polish over it. We leave in a few weeks but my niece has worn her band several times and it seems to be working fine!

Please report back on how well it holds up after your trip! I have tons of acrylic paint that I use for my painted shoes and that would be sooo much easier for me! :-)

I've read through all the pages. :faint: I have my magic bands. And I'm still trying to figure out- is it better to use base coat under AND over the design? Or just under and top coat over? I'm also interested in knowing how the acrylic paints work out.

From my understand of what I've read here, base coat for both under and over. I remember some have said that the top coats seem to crack more.

So, where can I get the little crystals (beads? sequins?) in the Mickey Head silhouette shape?

I see some folks have made them with one bigger and two smaller stones... But some people really look like theirs are a single THING made in that shape.

Thanks!

After a few tries I finally got my band the way I want it. At first I put the tattoos on the band when it was its original pink color but the tattoos didnt stand out as much as I wanted. Then I tried to paint the band a pale pink but that didnt work well since I used the pink that came with a french manicure set which meant the pink was too sheer. Finally I used the white nail polish that came with the manicure kit. I got the tattoo kit at WalMart (they had a few different sets).

This is GORGEOUS!! (I can't "quote" the image yet! LOL!)

Painting the whole thing white definitely makes the tattoos POP!

I was wondering about a tip someone else shared many, many pages ago - painting a layer of white (or flesh tone) under where the tattoo will go (but not the whole band).

Heading down in 6 days! I've been so inspired by everyone here I thought I'd give it a try on ours!!
Just added some sparkle :)

Those are AMAZING!!

Please share what medium you used, and how you applied it!

My hubby is very artistic - maybe I can convince him to do one like this for me! :thumbsup2

For anyone who used tattoos did you experience any of it coming off at the parks?
We used temporary tattoos on all of our bands in April. They were perfect the entire trip. We swam with them on and everything. However my daughter kept hers on her dresser and it is peeling a little now. But that is about six weeks later.

Thanks! It's all nail polish. I used a white nail polish for the swirls and made this layer slightly thicker to create a textured effect. Once that dried I went over the white swirl with a sheer nail polish color to fade it. Then sealed it with a rubber base coat on top. Hasn't cracked at all!

I'm working on painting our MagicBands right now... All the pictures on here have given me tons of motivation! I'm creative but not very patient, so hopefully this will turn out well! :rotfl:

Just finished them!! We've got tons of colors already and we're getting more for our next resort stay at the end of June, so I decided to just GO for it! Here are the three designs I went with... I can't wait to try more!

I posted a "How-To" :teacher: on my blog, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here, so I just went with the pictures! I think I'm gonna try out the rub-ons or the temporary tattoos next! :cool1:
