We were thinking about skipping the World Showcase side of Epcot, I know we'd be missing some attractions, but, travelling with 3 small kids, the enormity of this park gets us every year. Has anybody else done this?

Leah

Yes, we have skipped the World Showcase also. The boys were 4 and 6. At ages 5 & 7, we tried a couple of countries and they had no interest. We skipped it again the next year. Last year, at ages 7 & 9, we selected only a couple they thought they would be interested in. They enjoyed those, and had did not want to look at any others. We used the water taxi, which did not cut down on time, but gave a break from walking.

yes, many times. I have only visited WS once in all my WDW trips.

Don't worry, it'll still be there! It'll just be an excuse to come back!;)

Yes, many times. My kids have never been interested in WS other than going on the rides in Mexico and Norway. We never miss those two. They didn't care for the American Adventure until they were older. Epcot is their second favorite parks though! They love Future World!

My DGD didn't care much for Epcot WS when she was 6, but when I took her when she was 8 she was really into it. I'm letting her bring two of her friends (sisters, couldn't ask just one) in June they've requested to go to that park first. Of course, it may have something to do with Mission: Space.;)

WOW, my DD is 6 and for years the WS has been one of her favorites at WDW. She loves the people and making the masks and the different countries. We all love the shows, too, and her favorite, as is mine, is the masquarade show in Italy, which we usually wait around in italy to see at least twice. We never miss the WS!

Another WS fan here my 4 kids have been going since the oldest was 6 and the youngest was 3m(not sure whether enjoyment level was at the height this year:):))

But is our favorite park...there are so many little things to amaze and interest the kids...

UK has the Worldshowcase Players...an improve group that does a audience participation show..the kids get to do all kids of silly stuff

Canada has the band "Off Kilter"

Norway has the kids Viking Ship Playground

China has the amazing kids acrobatic groups

Japan has the ladies that roll the rice paper in to candies or that do Oragami

France has the living statues..

In addition each country has the kidcot station

Plus my kid have always love the amazing movies that are presented by some of the countries..

You should give it a try ...In small sections but don't pass it up....:D :D

We would NEVER skip World Showcase, but that's because it's our very favorite part of the world! To each his own, I guess . . .

WS is my favorit part also. You never know what will interest your children. Never in a million years would I have guessed DD6 would love the World Showcase Players. We saw them twice and she laughed like crazy both times.

DD 4 loves the kidcot stations and the belly dancer in Morrocco.

We always do it later in the trip at a slow pace.

My kids. DS7 & DD9, love WS. They each love making the masks, trying out the french they are learning w/french CM's. My DD loves going to Japan and opening an oyster for a pearl. We now have 5 various size oysters and we will continue until we get enough to make her a necklace or bracelet for 16th birthday.

I personally love sampling the food.

My 6 y/o son and I actually prefer WS. He doesn't care for many of the rides so we don't have to wait for Test Track or the other long ride lines and can get to WS and really take our time. Last year, we saw so many great things there, French street performers (including my son in the show!!), they stand on stacked chairs, and perform magic and mime acts and we both loved it. As we moved on, we saw the drum show at China and in Italy the masked performers are fabulous and the moving statues are not to be missed!! As we continued to move there was a free concert (Jefferson Starship!!) I could not believe it. And my son would never forgive me if we bypassed the viking ship to play on. We have never seemed to be able to make to Mexico however, we just meander along very slowly. Last year we made it to the viking ship and I had to pull him off to watch Illuminations. It was the best time we had last year in any of the parks. But it is a very long day, even though my son was 5 at the time and is 6 this year, I always get a stroller so he can take a break when he needs to. We cannot wait to go this year. Interestingly enough we have never even been on any of the rides in WS. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

This past trip is the first time we actually toured WS with DD(10) and DS(9). They had a ball! I'm glad we waited because I think they wouldn't have appreciated it when they were younger! DS had his picture taken with one of the living statues, and she grabbed him! If he were younger, he would have freaked!!!!!

Oh boy! Thanks for all the responses, it gives us something to think about!

We would never skip World Showcase -- we'd be more likely to skip Future World, if we had to choose. There's so much to do, see and taste in WS!

Weve skipped it a few times. Once we hit Mexico for lunch(kids got pizza elswhere) and hit the rides there and Norway, and the viking ship in Norway(kids LOVED this), but for the most part skipped it.
It wasnt until this last trip when the kids were just 7 and almost 4 when I thought we would spend some time there listening to the holiday storytellers at each country. Well, DS was one of the masks and asked to make one. Suddenly WS was a big hit. They didnt care so much for the countries themselves, but making those masks was a ball. They have even asked to do it again on the next trip.

We never skip the World Showcase, as it's my favorite! The kids always find shows that they enjoy, as well as making the masks, and playing on the playground in Norway. But, on our last trip, we didn't get to spend as much time as we wanted to. The Food And Wine Festival was going on and it was both too crowded and too drunken for navigating a stroller in. We spent a great deal of time at Imagination and Spaceship Earth.. perrenial favorites and uncrowded in the evennings.

This is a section of the parks that WE NEVER MISS! I have 4 kids and it has always been one of the favorites. We usually do the Kidcot stations and the passports and even though the kids are 17, 12, 12 & 5, they ALL still want to go back each time we visit. As they mature, there interests have changed, but yet they still look forward to our WS day!!

Between the passports, the masks and the performers my kids enjoy WS. My DS who was 8 on our last trip was excited as he visited the countries he had learned about in school.

we have never skipped it and the kids always liked it. now with the kids stations I think any past early toddler age would like it even more.

younger than that I think any place in wdw might be hard to go to depending on the child since some could be afraid of different things, not have a long enough attention span, whatever.
a group of our friends with a kid that age just went this summer and had a miserable time, the kid screamed/cried on *every* attraction in *MK* so it depends on the kid!

My kids are 10 and 6 and we have been to WDW many times and never skip WS but Epcot is also our favorite park.
My kids look forward to going to the different countries and enjoy some of the small attractions in some of the countries.
Only you can decide if it is worth it for you. If we had to choose, we would rather spend the day in Epcot rather than MGM but again, that just us. Have fun :)
