We are splitting our trip up between WDW and Universal. I have ressies at The Swan, and at the Hard Rock at Universal where we stayed last year. The Hard Rock was AWESOME! A beautiful hotel, great rooms, service beautiful lobby and pool etc, I could go on and on. Will I be disappointed with the Swan? How do the two compare?

I want to stay more nights at Disney, since there is more to do there, but that Hard Rock hotel is so great I don't want to regret spending more time there. Will the Swan/Dolphin measure up, or should I just prepare myself to stay in a lesser property for a few days.

Gosh, Cfroza! I am just the opposite!!!:D I am splitting my stay (this June) between the Dolphin and HRH and am wondering the same thing about HRH!!!

The Dolphin is fantastic!! We stayed there last June and loved it!! This year we tacked on three more days to stay at HRH and are really hoping it won't be a let down from staying at the Dolphin.

You answered my question, tho......sounds like HRH is great!:)

Great Kitty, I'm glad to hear it. You WILL NOT be disappointed at the Hard Rock. Great minds think alike!:D

I've stayed at Swan, Dolphin and HRH. I don't think you'll be disappointed in any of them. The rooms are just as nice, if not nicer at the Swan. The pools are really nice. Plus, you've got DISNEY! What could be better?

No, seriously, I would say they are both very comparable hotels. You'll have a BLAST!

I just did that. I prefer the Hard Rock (that place is incrediable!) - the beds are very comparable (extreamly comfortable at both the Swan- had concierge room-and the Hard Rock - standard room). I prefer the decor at the Hard Rock as far as the rooms and the hallways. The Swan had a lovely lobby. We enjoyed Karoke in Kimonos at the Swan (starts at 9pm). Kids would even love that - the drinks however were EXPENSIVE - $7.50 for a glass of house wine.
I think you are talking mostly location here. If I didn't mind going to a Disney park and then being "done with it for the day" , I'd go back to the Hard Rock, but if you want to "do a Disney park, go rest at hotel and return to a Disney park in the evening" stay at the Swan/Dolphin - it's just easier.

I have, and I am doing it again in March. :D

We love both places! Though the atmosphere is different, they are both great hotels. Pools are outstanding at each, beds are comfy at each, lots of places to eat in both areas (Boardwalk & CityWalk), close to 2 parks at each, etc.

We like to stay at the Swan for my Disney days then move to the Hard Rock for my Universal days. Ending the trip with virtually no waiting in line by using unlimited Universal Express at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, especially at busy times, is just a perfect end to the trip for us. It would be too hard to adjust to the lines at Disney if we did it the other way around. :)

Have a great trip!!

I stay every year @ the Portofino Bay Hotel...AND the Dolphin. I'm already booked this year in a Villa @ Portofino...but have you been to the U-Studios Website lately and LOOKED at the Special offer for the HRH?? I believe if you book PRIOR to March...it's $129.00 per eve, with three days of FREE passes to the parks! I just glanced at it, as I already have my itinerary...but WOW--what an offer/deal! You'll LOVE the Loews properties...all are four-star, and large, detailed and very comfy! Enjoy!!:)

Here's the offer under SPECIALS on the left of the Theme parks page:

**An Offer That's Anything But Ordinary!
Stay at the exciting new Hard Rock Hotel for $129/night (per adult, double occupancy, per night, based upon 3-night stay). Book by March 31st and included in your Hard Rock accommodations you'll enjoy unlimited admission to both Universal Studios and Universal's Islands of Adventure theme parks during your stay. **

Combine this with a SWAN/DOLPHIN stay...and you can NOT go wrong!! Hope this helps some of you.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I actually have stayed at the Hard Rock last year and LOVED IT, more so than any Disney property I've stayed in. This will be our first time at the Swan though, and it sounds like we won't be disappointed. We are doing Swan/Disney first, then Hard Rock/Universal since I did get spoiled by FOTL last year, and am definitely saving the best for last.

Also Dreamflight, I did get a great deal at Universal from the site, and club level to boot! The Portifino was on the Travel Channel this am. Looked great!

The Entertainment Rate at the HRH beats the special advertised on the Universal site, because the special is per adult/per night.

2 adults/3 nights/3 days of passes = $774 plus taxes with Universal special.

2 adults/5 nights/7 days of passes = $797 plus taxes with Entertainment Rate ( $125 a night, special online deal for passes is pay for 2 days get 7 consecutive days $85.95 each - ticket deal expires soon but you can order them now for later use) But that's 2 extra nights at HRH for about the same price.

Deluxe room at HRH is $155 (500 sq. ft) with Entertainment Rate, will accomodate 5 people with the sofa sleeper and 2 queen beds.

I can't wait to get back to the Swan and the Hard Rock! :D
