has a FP+ strategy been determined yet?

9-10
10-11
11-12 etc.

Now this could all change when it is fully operational and open to everyone but for the testers, many time slots are available, I've changed mine around a few times with no problems.

Ok thanks. I'd heard you have to chose say "late morning" and the system chooses the times. Good to know I can change them around...possibly. To work around ADRs etc.

MY DW and I were discussing the new format and I was wondering about this situation:

You've got your FP+ schedule all set before leaving home and on day 2 you have them for the MK. But you wake up that morning to find a forecast of rain all day long. In the past, you might have changed plans to go to EPCOT since most attractions are inside. BUT if you do that, then two days of FP+ could be wasted since you are now going to go to different parks than you had originally planned. Granted, this would be the guests choice to make that change, but with the current system, it is no problem as you could still use FP-. With the new system, that is out the window.

You can (theoretically) change your FP+ reservations to Epcot that morning, if you so desire. However, I have to believe the availability of desirable FP+ attractions and timeslots would be rare if not impossible to get. You might be able to get FP+ reservations at less desirable spots...

You pick any times you want. It will give you initial "options", but then you can change to whatever you want (if there's a slot available at those times, that is).

I've changed from morning to afternoon and back again.

Also, it does actually pick every once in a while times in between. Ex. 9:15 - 10:15 or 9:45 - 10:45.

I suggest you subscribe to a weather site with a 60 day outlook.

Because your ability to make adjustments on the fly will only be as good as what is left over after everyone makes their reservations. Unless you'd be happy with Maelstrom. Living With the Land and Ellen's Energy Universe to swap your 3 MK Mountain slots.

And that is my point exactly. All you will be able to get is what is left over. Where now at least you have the option to go the attractions and at least have a shot at them.

Well to be fair no one knows if that's true or not. They may block a certain % of FP+ reservations off for only same-day reservations. We don't know the inner workings of FP+ or how it will work when it's actually implemented.

I agree that is how it certainly seems but we don't have all of the information.

I wonder how important my smart phone will be in this new system. I have a nice phone, but for some reason, Disney seems to really eat the battery quickly, even with my purchased enhanced battery... I often must spend chunks of each day without a phone, as the battery has been sucked dry. Now with FP+, I worry that it will be even more of a toll on the battery, and my chance to take advantage of some of the features of FT+ will be eliminated...

Just don't forget your backup sharpie. You can write your FP times on your arm when the battery runs low. :thumbsup2

Just ask one of the characters to do that for you when you are Meeting and Greeting.

The fix is easy... make everyone "scan" on the way out, and just don't open the exit turnstile until the MagicBand™ indicates the Guest has spent $100 on food, drinks, and/or souvenirs.

Meeting adjourned!

Good day everyone!

Please pay your dues to the treasurer, seated at the door, as you pass out.

This is great stuff! :rotfl: I having been laughing about this on and off all day.

It will be impossible to determine a fastpass+ strategy for the August testing until someone is actually there testing and reports back, because some people have been told......

- they will have zero access to traditional fastpass
- they will have full access to traditional fastpass
- they will have full access to traditional fastpass once they have used all their fastpass+ for the day
- they can choose some days with just traditional fastpass or some days with just fastpass+
-if they cancel their fastpass+ for the day, they can use traditional fastpass

I just realized today that we are eligible for our trip (8/13). Unfortunately, when I read through the info about it, it said we are not eligible for traditional FPs because we are ELIGIBLE for FP+....even if we chose not to participate. The problem with this, for us, comes when my husband meets us for the second part of our split stay (8/17), because he is NOT eligible for FP+. This basically means that we can't use any type of FP when we go to the parks together.

What?? It actually says that in your email?? If you choose not to participate, you will have no access to fastpass at all??? :confused3 That doesn't seem right! I think you should call them and give us an update as to what they say if you do call them.

I will eat my own hand if you aren't able to use FP-. I will let you know, I'll be there August 4th. And you CAN opt out, theoretically, at which point you will have no trouble with FP-. But like I said, I'm 100% sure you'll be able to use FP- anyway. Sit tight, you'll know more soon.

I'm starting to think I'm going to opt out if it turns out we are part of the testing. This is stressing me out way too much. I have 2 small kids and trying to figure out if and when they are going to nap and trying to work around ADRs.....I had a good rope drop plan for each day and I think I'm bet off sticking with that....we'll see how the first couple weeks of testing go and maybe I'll change my mind.

Maybe for a strategy, I book only DHS and MK in advance. At the 60 day mark for a ten day trip - I book TSMM, RnR, and Tower of Terror for five or six of my days. TSMM caused all of this, and it will be the most difficult to get. The other four or fives days I grab MK spots.

As I get closer to my trip, I will adjust as I know more.

I definitely don't need DAK if I go in the afternoon. Epcot? Really on two rides. Rope drop to ride soarin.

Did test track get rid of the single rider line?

I never received an email. I logged into the app, and that's when I saw it. It also came up on the website. I read through the FAQ section, and it says this:

Q. I am FastPass+ eligible, but I did not reserve access to FastPass+ attractions in advance. When I arrive at the theme park, can I still get FASTPASS tickets?

A. No. If you are FastPass+ eligible and you entered the park with a ticket linked to My Disney Experience by using your MagicBand or card, you are not able to use FASTPASS service.

But don’t worry! If FastPass+ experiences are still available, you can reserve access to FastPass+ attractions and entertainment online with your mobile phone or at a FastPass+ kiosk when you arrive at the park.

If you are not FastPass+ eligible, you are still eligible to use FASTPASS service. All FASTPASS tickets are subject to availability and are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Over the coming months, FastPass+ service is being tested with a limited number of pre-selected participants. We know that many Guests want to give FastPass+ a try, and we ask for your patience during this testing period.

Here's the link to where I found it online: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/fast-pass-plus/availability-fast-pass-plus/

Isn't it funny how the way to deal with a system designed to let people sleep in on vacation is often to be there at rope drop?

My theory about sleeping in on vacation is don't do it! I've spent all this money on the vacation and sleeping in equals lost dollars to me! And this is not just on a Disney vacation. When we are on vacation no matter where the location, we are always out the door early to get started on our day...there is just too much to see and do!
