Harry Potter or Twilight Series? If You've Read Both, Which One?

Another vote for Harry Potter.

DD (12) is Twilight-obsessed. She nagged me into reading Twilight and I honestly couldn't see what the fuss was about - I thought the writing was poor tbh. I started New Moon and gave up about 4 chapters in as I just wanted to slap Bella till she stopped moving, and then slap her some more to make sure. I did make it to the end at the second attempt, but Bella is just such a whinging little mare and Edward is borderline abusive, so I just don't get the whole thing.

I did think the last couple of HP books could have done with ruthless editing (50% of the last 2 or 3 books was filler) but still way better than Twilight.

I guess I shouldn't really reply since I've only read the first Twilight book. My vote EASILY goes to Harry Potter. I just do not get Twilight at all...had to force myself to finish Twilight. On the other hand, I've read most of the HP books multiple times.

This is a no brainer. Harry Potter books were so much better written. I liked Twilight..they were good..but HP was better. HP will become classics adn I think in time Twilight will go by the wayside.

Harry Potter by far! I've read both and Twilight is just annoying and horribly written. I've read the Harry Potter books about 5 times and I have bought them in another language (Italian). I would never do that for Twilight.
Bella is the most annoying character I have ever read about (and Kristen Stewart just makes me hate that character more).
I got through the Twilight series until the last book, then I was tempted to through it out the window. The fourth book was written like some tweens fanfiction. Absolutely horrible.

Yet another vote for Harry Potter!

I LOVE this series I think I've read the whole series about three times from beginning to end, and each time I get something new out of it. I think the writing is brilliant, the characters are great and I was so sad when the series was over

Twlight to me is sort of blah. I think the writing is pretty terrible, but my biggest problem, like other PP's have mentioned, is that I HATED the main character! Bella is just so uselss and whiney and pathetic, and it's really hard to like a series when you're not rooting for the main character, just hoping she'll be killed off.

Harry Potter all the way but I also love the Twilight series. Like others said both books are very different and are really hard to compare.

Harry Potter hands down!
I only started reading Twilight b/c all my female students were reading it. It was an ok story, but in no way can it be compared to HP.

I've read both and like both, but the better one is definitely HP....movie version also. Even the SciFi channel makes better movies than Twilight.
