Harry Potter . . . NUDE???

I remember studying Equus in my college theater course. That character is very unstable and if done well, will be a great performance.

The nudity is a very small (no pun intended) portion of the play. If I remember correctly, the nudity is more to show how out of reality the character is instead of an adult intimate scene.

The nudity in Equus is not sexual in nature. The character just happens to be unclothed when he's blinding the horses. It's used more as a shock value. Like would we have considered Andrea Yates to be more disturbed & insane had she killed her 5 children in the nude? Same with blinding the 6 horses nude.

As far as Daniel not continuing his Harry Potter role, I doubt (AND HOPE) this is not the case. It seems like there is a question of whether or not the actors will return every time the next movie is being planned. Certainly this is most likely a ploy for more cash, or a publicity move. (If you check out HPANA or any of the other HP sites, you will know that they especially pulled this in the case of Sirius Black/Gary Oldman.)

It just would not be the same without Daniel.

I love this play. It's really powerful. I played Dr. Dysart in college. We had a small protest from some people who thought the nudity was "wrong." My sister-in-law saw the play every night, and every night she sat a little closer. She said it was to see my facial expressions better but I think it was a different reason.

He is 17, at 16 you can have sex, move ou of your parents house, marry (with parents consent) . At 18 you are legally an adult and can do want you want, well apart from becoming a member of parliment you have to be 21 for that. I forgot according to the inmd he is down for both Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix and harry Potter and the halfblood prince. If he is down for these 2 it doesn't make sense for him not to be in the last one.

I was weirded out by the teenagers behind me catcalling during the scene with Harry in the bathtub! I don't even want to THINK about that!! I feel like a creepy old lady! LOL!

When DH and I saw that movie in the theater , there were two older women sitting behind us. When it got to that scene, I swear one of them said "Oooh, Harry Potter naked in the bathtub!!" The other one said, "He's just a kid!"

Two quick things ...

first in re. to Equus. I saw this play years (eons) ago in college. During the nude scenes, the stage was pretty dark and you really couldn't see much in the way of nudity. If I remember correctly, those scenes occur at night thus the darkened stage. I am sure this prob. varies from play to play ... maybe depending on the actor's comfort level!?

As for 20-somethings playing teens in movies, I ask you to take a look at Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets or Goblet of Fire and check out Moaning Myrtle. She's played by Shirley Henderson who is 40 years old!! So, if a 40 yo can pull of a 16 yo Moaning Myrtle, then a 25 yo Dan Radcliffe should be able to pull off a teenage Harry!!!!
